Team announced that Eddy Curry had an MRI that revealed strained right hamstring. Out 4-6 weeks. He will not travel with the team to Europe.
Let's not dwell on this one. Best of luck to Eddy.

only matters to him
however he can’t really showcase himself this year which would have been a nice bonus for a useful trade in December…and i’m not even referring to that guy from Syracuse with all the tattoos.
If you're a real Yankee fan, please do the rest of us a favor and splurge the extra cash on a replica jersey without a last name on the back. Frankly, it's embarassing.

All I'm gonna say about it is
4-6 WEEKS for a strained hamstring? Usually thats for a tear or something. Takes a handful of days for a strained hammy. Like a week. Wow, they could do better than this…
Well, it’s probably just a way to divert media attention. If you say he’s hurt, they usually shut up about it.

Wonder if I can un-draft him from Fantasy League...
What? I really thought this would be his year!
Speaking of fantasy,
is a P&T fantasy league in the works again for this year?

Knicks reveal new Eddy Curry uniform for 2010
Although I’m not a fan of the pinstripes in basketball……they actually work well on Eddy. Probably doesn’t “breathe” well though…..

like i said before all he is now is a glorified victory cigar....
Victory goes to the courageous!!
Arg.
I was SO pumped when we first got Eddy Curry. Thought he’d be dominant in the pain, the kind of guy the defenders would bounce off of as he posted them up. Even after this decade, up til the last day or so, that part of me was still alive (if on his death bed) hoping he might regain something.
This storyline makes me sad.

I was genuinely surprised when he showed up. This doesn’t surprise me though. He is going to be eating bench when/if he gets better. D’antoni is not going to play him.
why are you saying good luck to this loser???
he ruined the knicks franchise for many years.
When I get fat… I go to the gym and I try to change my diet.
When Eddy Curry gets fat… he comes up with an injury so he doesn’t have to try. I hate him. I hate him as a person. If you were to have a son and you wanted to show him what not to grow up to be… it would be Eddy Curry. A full-time loser. A fat, lazy sack of trash. The guy is a millionaire and yet you hear he has money problems?
Eddy Curry… I don’t wish you good luck, at all. In fact I hope you end up at a circus and have to lay on a bale of hay while people laugh at you and your enormous fat body. You look like a G-Unit Frankenstein. Not only are you a terrible basketball player, your also extrmely ugly and fat. No women would come near you, ever. At least Shaq is funny.
One time Shaq said you should be in the gym twice a day. Normally when a player like Shaq calls you out, maybe, just maybe you would do something about your personal problems.
Your pathetic. Your children should be put up for adoption.
yea...but don't dwell on it.

While I had no hopes for him at ALL...
it’s still disappointing when a player making tons of cash says he’s been “working out on his own” and then comes in supposedly heavier and gets hurt Day 1 (again).
Again, had no expectations of him contributing… but it still is way annoying that he’s still getting paid crazy cash for the minimal effort he’s obviously putting into it.
Yeah, but we really shouldn't say anything ...
he’s had to go through some tough things in life, you know, so this gives him a free pass for every lazy, horrible, integrity-less decision he makes in life.
I needed a team so I wouldn’t turn into one of the eighty million pink hat-wearing Bud Light-drinking mulleted idiots at Fenway.
Nice job

I appologize for my harsh comments about Eddie Curry's significant others
it was indeed tasteless and I shouldn’t let this guy make me say things like that. I am sorry.
Its just hard, when i work hard thru my tough times and I come to work each day and give my all. For him to get a free pass every single year makes me very frusterated. He should get a real job and then maybe he would appreciate the fact that people actually do work hard in this world. Not everything is handed to them, and the world doesn’t just stop when there are tough times. We have all had hardships and one of the biggest things in life is how you respond to them,
you know what?
He might HAVE to after this year! Thats pretty sad to say the least.

Its sad that
I work hard everyday and so do a lot of people so they can support their loved ones. This guy has taken life for granted. It’s not even about Basektball.
The G-Unit Frankenstein has literally STOLEN money from us. I think its time for the NBA to think about making these contracts with more stipulations that require some sort of effort or honoring of a contract. Its not fair to place these financial burdens.
Its like telling someone at a company that no matter what they will get paid 1 million dollars a year. What incentive do they have to try hard and be productive? the NBA needs to take a long hard look at this… Gaurenteed money and contracts being gaurenteed. I would think it would help the parity of the league and it wouldnt just be Lakers Celtics finals every single year. Teams get absolutely killed for making one bad decision. Whose to say that the Heat or Celtrics or other teams aren’t just paying Eddy Curry EXTRA MONEY to be fat and make the Knicks struggle to recover?
Extra money for S’mores.
You know what is interesting?
We compare MLB and NBA a lot salalry-wise, but obviously they are worlds apart in terms of structure and such.
However, one thing that puzzles me is most baseball contracts have a a "buyout “clause” in them. And its significant! Most guys can be bought out from their contract for 1/3 or 1/4 of the contract. Many times its even less! There are a number of guys who make $8-10Mil, but they can be bought out in the last couple years of their contracts for like $2-3 Mil. I’m surprised by that because in the MLB the Players Unon has incredible power…most of any professional league
Basketball rarely sees that clause in their contracts… maybe its time to make something like that more common. With the CBA expected to benefit owners more this time around… that could be something we see.

that would be a very smart move
its not a good move for the NBA to have teams dissapear for 5 years because of one player’s complete laziness and pathetic attitude.
Think of the real world. If you don’t perform, you get fired. End of story.
your effin OUTTA HERE MAN!

"they try to do what he do, and been where he's been, but they get folded in two.....he's the dude"
my bet
the hamstring is fine. But, curry is still fat and lazy, and sounds completely uninterested in basketball. This is the first of several made up lines from the organization to explain why curry never does anything until he can be traded or the contract runs dry.
Who cares? Doesn’t defend, is turnover and foul prone, slow, doesn’t work hard, poor assist #s, poor rebounding for a guy his size… day is done. say goodnight.
"Game Knows Game"
yeah you can really only give so many chances
and as much as i have defended Eddy, I cannot say that the Knicks haven’t been beyond incredibly patient with him.
tragedy.

but thats the thing
they have no choice but to be incredibliy patient. It hasn’t been about basketball with the knicks for almost 10 years. Thats why the NBA needs to really look hard at why a contract could be gaurenteed for a terd like this. I don’t care who you are. Lets say Lebron James just says, “i don’t care anymore about anything”, comes into camp says “my foot hurts” and just doens’t play. the Heat can’t cut him. they have to pay him for 6 yrs, no matter what effort he puts forth.
How is that good for the NBA Business?
really?
thats quite normal. I had one in april..didnt return to running/lifting until may.. i gave it 4 weeks. tried to run at 3..but it tightened up real quick and was sore the next day.
"they try to do what he do, and been where he's been, but they get folded in two.....he's the dude"
baseball has the hamstring strain all the time
usually guys are gone for maybe 2 weeks.
So yeah, flossy is right on… 4-6 weeks.. shit thats more of a timetable for arthroscopic knee surgery!
Its obviously a cover for “just keep him away from the rest of the youngsters because hes a bad example” or its “keep him away from the media so we don’t continue to get hounded by the ame damn stupid questions too.”

idk
it could be legit. Definitely not knee surgery time, I got knee surgery in July for a torn ACL, can’t play ball till December. He might actually be injured, but its probably just cause he hasn’t been preparing to play & gained back the weight he lost.
Donnie's bout to beat the NBA game like he got a cheat code
thats awful, dude. Torn ACL....
but arthoscopic surgery is pretty common in the NBA and it usually carries the ol’ 4-6er. Its a minor procedure that can fix ligaments, tissue and cartilage.
But ACL… thats big potatoes right there. Whatd you do??

Was playin ball
went for a layup, got some contact in the air, landed on it and the knee just gave out. I made it worse tho thinking it was just a sprain and played again a few times till it kept giving out and I finally got an MRI.
Donnie's bout to beat the NBA game like he got a cheat code
did you at least make the layup?
cus its really only about the team :-)

naah
theres 3 categories for hammy injuries. each having different strain partial tear and tear
i had the partial tear.. heard a pop when diviing for the int. 4 weeks is reasonable(to return fully)
"they try to do what he do, and been where he's been, but they get folded in two.....he's the dude"
I guess "strained" is kinda ambiguous
And probably on purpose. But a pro athlete should recover from your run of the mill, strained my hammy doing conditioning drills injury a lot faster than that. I agree with CCF that this is a tailor-made excuse for Eddy to go away and not be a downer around the eager youngn’s.
Yea I doubt he's actually injured
Or that he was injured last year, either. If he wasn’t in D’Antoni’s plans when he showed up in shape and the team had no center, he’s not gonna play when he shows up fat and disinterested while the Knicks have other options. He’ll keep having mysterious injuries until he’s off the payroll.

How much money has Eddy Curry earned as Knick?
What percentage of the teams payroll went to him during his time as a Knick? Just curious.
I may be stupid but I am not an idiot,
Well, his contract is for $60 Mil, and this year he is due $11.2 Mil
so after this season… $60Mil.
$60 Mil over 5 years and courtside seats to every game… shit I’ll sign that!!!!!!!!
