but now that the conversation has shifted from "he who shall remain nameless" to our real team needs, i'm thinking we can all stretch our scout muscles and analyze the skill sets of possible big men. because we're not trading for tim or dwight... the best we can do is figure out who FITS best. so for the sake of this "scouting" argument, let's try to ignore salary cap implications or likelihood of trade (and please don't yell at me for being "unrealistic" and stupid for discounting the importance of considering such realities).
i'd just like to hear your guys' scouting reports and who you think would be the best fit for our team as it's currently constructed.
MOST DISCUSSED POSSILITIES:
CRITERIA TO CONSIDER: Put your top 3 players for each category. I put mine down as an example... all from my own perspective... not from looking at advanced statistics.
upside- mcgee, gasol, thompson
athleticism- mcgee, thompson, chandler
rebounding- camby, chandler, humphries
team defense- chandler, camby, humphries
shot blocking- camby, mcgee, chandler
passing- gasol, nene, camby
intangibles/toughness- nene, humphries, camby
low post moves- gasol, nene, haywood
outside shot- gasol, humphries, camby
so based on these completely subjective, wildly unprofessional observations... i'd put camby on the top of our wish list (5 top 3's)... followed by humphries and gasol (4 top 3's).
what do you guys think? and feel free to add other criteria or other possible bigs.
