1st fanpost here and 1st time coming around here, but a lifelong knick fan in his 20's. If I repeat anything that was posted recently, then please forgive me.
I think it's clear as day that as we are a playoff team/eastern conference playoff team, but we definitely have some obvious needs/weaknesses. The main ones imo are, a little more/better defense(11th worst oppo. FG%), more rebounding(3rd worst +//- rebound differential), and something that solves both: a legit rebounding/defensive center. Amare is best used as a PF, mozgov isn't suited for this role yet, and Turiaf is a backup center. Our 2 strongest suits are PF-Amare, and PG-Felton. They are the foundation of this team and should be untouchable because they are the 2 most important parts of our team's core.
What should we do/who should we trade for? Best/most available option is probably camby, even at 35yrs old. Can still play 28min/gm, still average 11rebounds/gm, and still average around 1.9blocks/gm. Fixes our rebounding problem greatly, fixes our defensive problem noticably, and fixes our center situation. Not to mention, will come fairly cheap too because of his age and the fact how far away the clippers are from a playoff spot. You add camby to our team, and we should be a legit championship contender come playoff time. Camby doesn't completely fix all our problems, but he helps a great bit with his addittion, more then most would think.
1st and foremost, Camby/a-starting-camby-like-center(great rebounding/great defense) is the most important need for our team. We aren't nearly as weak anywhere else as center and in those fields, so that's what we need the most.
Next is up to debate(and imo, would only come from upgrading a starting player, as in a chandler/gallinari/fields into carmelo. Not suggesting it, just saying.), what do you think we need to put us over the edge after a camby-like-center? Or, if you don't think a center like camby is our biggest missing link, what do you think our biggest team need is? Discuss.
