Maybe the Key to the Melo trade isnt Melo

When the Nugs finally do trade Melo, the one thing I think everyone can agree on is they will be starting over and rebuilding.

If you look at their salaries http://hoopshype.com/salaries/denver.htm They have a ton of money coming off in the next year or two. By holding tight, they will have lots of money to spend on FA.

What if Donnie was able to expand the trade to include Nene or Billups. Both will fit nicely into our holes (imagine Chauncey as our first guard off the bench??? That would be one hell of a smart backcourt). Both have big money deals, but both are done very soon (Billups has a team option which can be passed so he can return to Denver after helping us with a playoff run, and Nene has a player option for just 1 more year).

Maybe the key to getting this done is to expand it.

I am not too sure Denver would go for it, it is actually much harder then I thought to get the salaries to match (its even harder for Billups, I can make it work... but it really depleates our team for a half season rental...)

IDK, just spit firing here...
