why? WHY? can't WE hire some "specialists" for our bench?
maybe you all knew oakley was in charlotte, but i didn't. and when i read it in an nba.com article... it really got in my craw.
obviously players make the real difference on the stat sheet and in the win loss column... but there are those players (like our landriest of landry's) who add to wins without overflowing stat sheets.
charles "no hops/set shot/enforcer" oakley would have been the perfect addition to our team... maybe even more than melo.
imagine his passion and knowledge for team defense influencing our guys... picture his unwillingness to give up easy layups infiltrating our team philosophy... wonder how his on-court loathing of opponents might eradicate the occasional lightheartedness we see between our team, and the other team.
look, i dig our squad and love walsh's plan... but he really dropped the ball on the bench. no, i'm not a huge MDA guy, but i respect him and can tolerate him... BUT... if the dolan's and walsh's of our world were smart enough to bring in an old-head who would literally KILL to have the opportunity to be back on the court playing ball again in the garden... i think we'd see our win total... and maybe our technical foul total... rise significantly.
OAK would have made an actual difference... and is exactly what we need on our bench and in our locker room.
agree? disagree? any other bench supplement suggestions?
