Projecting Forward Is Impossible At This Point

Or at least past this regular season.  Here's the major reason why, and I think this information should color everyone's future trade ideas / FA signings.  We really can't know what is going to happen at this point, regarding Wil, Melo, and all of that.

From Larry Coon's Chat on Hoopsworld: ( http://www.hoopsworld.com/Chat.asp?CHAT_TOPICS_ID=1363#ixzz1ACMoELXH )

Tom Ford in New York, New York:
Wilson Chandler is a restricted free agent this coming summer, what are the chances of resigning him and signing Melo? I know their capspace is going to be 12 to 16 million if they renounce some players under the current CBA. Larry Coon:
The CBA expires on July 1, so we have no idea what their cap space will be, nor whether Bird rights or restricted free agency will exist under the new agreement. So there's really no way to project whether they'll be able to keep Chandler while having enough cap room to sign Melo. It's just impossible to preduct right now. I'm guessing no, since I'm guessing that the cap will likely be more restrictive than it is now.
