Like many of you, I've licking my chops as I peruse the lists of candidates most likely to be amnestied. But apparently, we may not have a shot at them after all.

So... this sucks. I know the deal hasn't been ratified yet, but it doesn't seem like this is really a point of contention. I can't see the players arguing this very much because it doesn't really mess with them.

The Knicks will only be about 1 million dollars over the cap.
This means that they could easily buy out a cheap player (likely Balkman) and become eligible to bid on the amnestied players.
The only catch is they have to buy out Balkman, not amnesty him. Shouldn’t be hard.
