i'm so sick of this
(not this site or your posts)
but this is like the ninth time there is supposed to be a deal tonight. I don’t know how long I can keep reading Frank Isola’s random thoughts aka attempts at comedy aka tweets

Happened before the NFL lockout ended, it’s a clear sign tonight’s the night.

While I love the show, I didn’t pick up on the reference. I’m not really a fan of this season, unfortunately.

No?
Whatever number this season is, 6 I think, I love. Last season, I thought was kind of lacking though. 1-4 (if my numbers are correct) are just terrific
7
i like this season. i like em all tho. but also i’m a fan of not letting shows go on for too long. i would rather they do a new show with the same chracters. they could even have the same names. but whatever tho.
/// aighttho.com \/// twitter.com/aighttho \
Agreed about letting shows run on too long
For instance, The Office has been run into the ground. Always Sunny still has alot going for it, but if it’s going to go for an 8th or 9th season, they need to have something happen that affects the overall plots of the show.
Right now, they’re sort of running out of ideas it seems
Fat Mac just isn't doing anything for me.
The golden age of Nightman Cometh and Kitten Mittens are behind us. Workaholics is taking it’s place. God that show is funny.

Today is Day 132 of the NBA lockout.
The NFL lockout ended on Day 132.
If I wasn’t so superstitious I’d think that might be significant.

also fuck these small markets
they get the best draft picks every year, the john walls the d rose, durant…Free agency is all the main way good teams can get better, so why do these small market shitbags think they can get all the free agents on topof their cheap superstar draft picks every year
DC and Chicago are small markets?
You serious? Even OKC can be considered a big market. They certainly have good attendance.
Stainer of mountaintops.
by Chairman Meow on Nov 9, 2011 10:12 PM EST up reply actions
Okay, well they sold out every game while he was there, so I don't see the big deal.
What do you have against small markets?
Stainer of mountaintops.
by Chairman Meow on Nov 9, 2011 10:21 PM EST up reply actions
what I have against small markets
is that it is them who are holding up this whole NBA season while trying to force “competitive balance” while they have made plenty of mistakes. nobody told minnesota to pay garnett all that money, and nobody told washington to pay arenas it either, nobody told Portland to keep getting players hurt…but all those teams are holding up the season
Chicago most definitely isn't a small market
I don’t know about DC, and OKC is an example of a thriving small-market team, similar to what San Antonio has been over the past decade.
Too much is made of the whole big-market vs. small-market in my opinion. Until last year, NY never got awesome players in free agency; we actually blew for the whole decade. The Lakers haven’t really signed any huge, big time FAs in the past years (unless you wanna count Odom), they’ve done it through trades and the draft.
Miami isn’t really a big market either, just Lebron and Bosh are in love with D-Wade and Wade didn’t really want to leave Miami. The Hawks aren’t exactly a big market and they’ve had success, as have the Magic, the Grizzlies currently, the Bucks for a year, Portland to an extent, Utah for a lot of the past decade, etc etc.
You just need smart management to make good signings all around and make good draft picks
"You just need smart management to make good signings all around and make good draft picks"
Mike Jordan just left the room and slammed the door
small market refers to television market which impacts local TV revenues.
not actual population or attendance at games. San Antonio for example is one of the smallest Markets in the NBA. Chicago however never has been and never will be a small market.

the sports business is an entertainment business. And if you do not entertain you don’t make money. Now in sports there are 3 ways to entertain.
1. have big name stars (Just like movies have enough stars and crap looks good. Put Will Smith and Brad Pitt in a movie and even if it is shit people will pay money to see it.) Put Carmelo and Amare on the court and even if the rest of the team is shit, people will come to see it.
2. Win. Everyone loves a winner. The Chicago Bulls play some of the ugliest basketball in the NBA but people watch it because it wins.
3.Play an entertaining style. Glent Taylor is sitting on a license to print money in Minny ha ha. He has a young athletic team forget structured offenses, let those youngsters get out and run. Lots of points and lots of dunks puts fans in the seat even if the team doesn’t win alot. Instead of Rick Adelman they should have hired Don Nelson. Nelly ball would have the target center packed to the rafters inside of two weeks.

They’re pretty successful down there.
Stainer of mountaintops.
by Chairman Meow on Nov 9, 2011 11:40 PM EST up reply actions
i was under the impression they were extremely UNsuccessful
first the team moved to, of all places, new orleans. then they went and created a whole new team out of thin air that has never been very successful (record wise). and the franchise has been sold at least once despite only being around for a decade basically. thats a red flag to me. also, jordan is sitting there making bad player decisions as often as possible. they will never be successful. or at least thats how it looks to me.

I remember Chris Childs' Fist (whatever happened to that guy???)
Saying he went to a Bobcats game and the arena was quite nice, and the crowd was lively. I mean, Charlotte was pretty successful with the Hornets back in the 90s, I just think the Bobcats’ management sucks. They let Felton and Tyson Chandler go for nothing, and traded Gerald Wallace for dirt, after having a nice playoff season.
Personally, I’d thorw Minnesota on the chopping board

Contraction is a serious blow to the players. That’s like 30 roster slots and $100 million just became unavailable.

This would be the perfect time for a deal to get done.
The sports world is distracted by Penn State (which, by the way, is on the verge of a full riot), so they can get some work done without the huge scrutiny that they’ve had to deal with so far.

Stacey Q, Polka Dots, Salsa Coma (that'd be me), P&T death cults and still no deal
…hell in a basket…but I’m sure I’ll be back tomorrow…dammit
I think now is the time for owners to cross the threshold
After reviewing whats gone down and which concessions have been made, the ball has to be in the owner’s court and they have to make the right move. They got enuff back that with a little responsibility they can recoup some of those alleged losses. I honestly feel players are overpaid, but it’s also a negotiation and we’re dealing with flesh and bone, not product as some say. A product breaks, you make a new one, a player breaks and they live with it for some 50% of their lives.
Other than a one-line from Fisher something like “if we had an extra mil it’s go to a retirement fund,” …No, there should, if there isn’t be provision for players long after players careers are over. But I don’t hear much about this. I don’t want to hear about how Dwayne Wade could make 3x without a hard cap or whatever, that tells me more about greed than caring for families. It’s definately about the money on both sides, which is irresponsible, again, in my opinion, and ignorant.
At the end of the day, being responsible and wise with the money they take in is what owners should worry about. There’s plenty of money to be made by players if they play up to expectations, while some (Curry) make it nonetheless. They should be worried about securing their futures when the lights go down for themselves and their families. But at the end of the day, pull away the speeches and hoopla and the like, and what they’re leaving behind are frustrated and alienated fans. The people who really keep the doors open and help fund these big arenas and player lifestyles.
If we don’t fill the seats then the team should look for greener pastures, unfortunately to the detriment of some local businesses where these substandard teams reside. While I respect Paul Allen for his ability to keep funding what has been a relatively competitive team in Seattle over the past decade in the NFL, he’s been less than admirable in his handling of his NBA team regaurdless of the fact that he’s had bad breaks with player injuries etc. But, too bad, it happens when you’re dealing with flesh and bone and not plastic and gears. You can’t cry foul afterwards as if you didn’t know what you were getting into.
I could go on forever. I won’t. Get this shit done and let’s get back to business. The Knicks are gonna win it all, so let’s stop delaying the inevitable.
