We were an offensive powerhouse, now we will be an offensive juggernaught.
If CP3 comes to MSG.
That was Thought #1.
Yeah, we need defense, but Chris Paul can help with that. His 4.1 RPG will be a slight upgrade from Chuck, Felton, and TD's combined 3.175 RPG. His 2.4 steals per game would have lead the Knicks last year, easily.
If Chris Paul is with us by season's start he will average a double-double a game. He almost did last year, with 15.9 PPG and 9.8 assists. With Amare and Melo by his side, he will be getting even more assists, while at least maintaing, if not increasing his scoring averages in high scoring games.
I'm not saying that we don't need to still keep looking for defense, but Shumpy's 42 inch vertical can't hurt.
Landry will prosper, as even more pressure comes off everyone's favorite second year shooting guard. He will have more people to pass to, which leaves more time to focus on defense, and a shortened season that will help down the stretch.
The shortened season will help Amare, too.
Er...that was Thought #6
Thought #7 is my final, and probably most important thought.
This, in my eyes, at least, will always be Amare's team. Melo and Paul (if he comes) are just add ons to his dynasty.
