Howard

I know all the hype is the Knicks going after CP3 but how about acquiring a third star in the form of Dwight Howard. Obviously we would not be able to acquire him for this season and it will be a lot harder to get him in the offseason because he is going to be sought after by many teams. But oh what the heck my thoughts won't impact the Knicks thoughts......

For this year though, how about we try and trade Billups, Shump and whatever picks or players to make it work for Steve Nash. Their contracts cancel each other out so the money works and personally i think at both stages of their careers Nash is better and would help Melo and STAT more so then Billups. Not to mention he moves better and has ran this offense w STAT. I personally think for this year Nash would help us and then in the offseason we can go after Dwight and hope for the best in resigning Nash for smaller contract hoping hell take less to play for a championship. Also a few years down the line getting a PG of the future is much easier then getting a freak of nature 7 footer like Dwight. W Melo,STAT and DH we could be a scary team (not that CP, Melo and STAT wouldn't be). Dwight said that he wants to go to a bigger market and with "Global Warming" NY's winters could resemble Orlando a little more.

Stat for Howard makes the most sense, especially if Howard is serious about leaving and Orlando wants a return.

I’d be very happy with making that trade for sure, but for now I just wan’t to focus on the players that we have.

"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

true

That i am happy with the players we have but i disagree w trading stat for howard. I know this is a business and all but STAT was the FIRST to come to the “bad” Knicks i just couldn’t imagine trading him. But the point was to sign Howard next year and get Nash now. I guess I’m asking is that a possibility or even intriguing as another “third star” move

I think getting Dwight Howard is just pie in the sky dreaming

It’s going to be tough enough getting Chris Paul, and his CAA people are already out there getting the word out that all he wants is Knicks so he’d have leverage in a trade. Dwight won’t do that for us, and I think Orlando would prefer youth and picks to Amar’e.

Anxiously awaiting the day my username will be appropriate

wouldn’t that kill his leverage, since the knicks could call the hornets bluff if they ask for too much?

i'd rather dwight than CP3 also...

and i’d rather sit tight with our young guys this year than strip the cupboard for a 3rd star… but if it’s going to happen, i’d rather ‘melo for dwight instead of STAT. i also appreciate that STAT took on the challenge. as long as we’re tossing out crazy schemes, we’ll give them chauncey, jerome jordan and melo for dwight and jameer or hedo or bass.

but again… i’m not in the ‘get a third star’ camp.

Howard is obviously the better player AND better fit but it'll never happen

at this juncture there simply is no space for him financially aside from the number of suitors he’ll have. There are more great PG’s in the league now than centers. Literally ANY team would ditch whoever they’re rolling with at center now for Howard.

The NBA is his oyster(barring injury) he can go where ever he chooses.Despite it making sense for us to be interested, I don’t see how the Knicks make sense for him. Also if the Knicks are insistent on going for Paul (which I can’t fault them for) I don’t see how a deal could work financially at all. If they gotta go for someone, I’d sooner shoot for Paul knowing there is a stronger likelihood he wants to be here as opposed to Howard who has kept his cards pretty close to the vest.

It is an entertaining thought though.

I found Carmen SanDiego! Guess Where? Go Ahead...That's Right..SanDiego.

The Knicks should forget about Dwight Howard and concentrate on Chris Paul. Is Howard a better player? Yes. Is he a better fit? Yes. However, as stated above, he has shown no desire to become a Knick, and he absolutely has control over where he wants to go. While I don’t think he would mind getting traded to the Knicks, it’s not a priority with him, so he won’t force the Magic to take a lesser package, like Melo did with Denver, and Paul will probably do with the Hornets. The Magic won’t take Amar’e and his balky knee, and why you might be able to put a Melo package together, the Knicks aren’t trading Melo, who is rapidly becoming the face of the franchise. And thank you, Lord Smackington, for typing the same thing I typed about better player and fit and hitting post before I did to make it look Iike I copied you!
