Questions about Starters/Bench
I gotta be honest...I'm happy Billups is gone. He chucks up wayyy too many threes and is an average at best defender. I think the signing of Bibby was smart for leadership purposes...seems to have a good attitude. I hope he doesn't take too many minutes away from the development of ImanShumpert though. So as I see it our starters will be:
DWTDD- Is he good enough defensively to matchup with Rondo...we'll find out soon.
Fields- Can he continue to develop and become an X-factor
Melo- Will he become the leader everyone has expected for years?
Stat- Can Stat stay healthy? What kind of year is possible if healthy with TC?
T-C- Will he work well without a creator like Chris Paul or Jason Kidd?
Bench
Shumpert- Can he bring the 6th man energy this team will desperately need while Melo and Stat are on the bench?
Bibby- Will he be a mentor or a distraction?
Jeffries- Has he learned how to make a layup?
Jordan- I just want to see this kid play. No questions.
Harrellson- Will he be the pest the knicks need?

I hope harrellson plays like omir asik
on chi-town or the european guy the celtics had then traded to cleveland. If he could be like them we might have found something.
Yeah that would be great
he could then spell both Tyson and STAT
D.T.O.T.D stands for Don't Trade Our Toney Douglas
Semih Erden is the guy I was thinking about

asik is good
erden just kinda goofy. not tough enough to be big, not savvy enough to just be a forward.
asik is just aggressive and relentless, he happens to be a legit 7-footer, so that helps. but if harrelson has his head on straight, and works tirelessly, he’ll be good.

strangely, i think harrellson is key...
we know jefferies’ role off the bench… and it’s not scoring any points.
jerome jordan is a 5, through and through, and he is a wild unknown, most likely lower on the depth chart than even jorts because of the physicality difference.
but jorts… if he can prove to be able to hit his layups and putbacks, and even hit an 8-10 footer on the PnR, than he’ll be very valuable as a front court scoring option.
especially if we don’t sign poop or a vet big.
yeah, and u underestimate the fact that Jerome jordan played in europe for 1.25 years, is 25 years old and has steadily improved his skillset.
by the way you cant teach 7’1.
have you ever seen him play?
I’m not insinuating anything, just asking.

no i havent and neither have you because i know there is no whole game on youtube. but sportswriters like sheridan have noted that JJ has had some notable performances including one where he severely outplayed jonas valanciunas in a game in september..
the press has been mixed on him. can we at least give him a chance to show us something. dang son…its guys like you that allowed brandon jennings to drop to the effing bucks.
lol

Knicks could have gotten more for Jennings than Jordan Hill
but Jennings should not be in the long term plans of a winning team
man, I was begging for Jrue Holiday that year!
Consider this my application for the next vacant GM position.

oh am i?
Or am I jut skeptical of someone who raves about the improvement of a player they’ve never seen play.
Just cuz Chris Sheridan, who was fired from ESPN and is desperate for attention, says that Jerome Jordan looks good, does not mean he’s actually an NBA player. What we actually do have to as evidence, his college track record, shows the picture of a non-NBA player. So let’s keep the Jerome Jordan hype to a minimum until you actually watch him play basketball.

What exactly r u disagreeing with? Im just saying let him play. I didnt say hes a shoo-in for 6th man of the year or ROY.
I said he is worth a shot but I actually also think hell be productive because of his skillset. He had a very good college career I dont know what ur saying. The knock was the conference not his numbers. Plus Realgm.com noted he is progressing in Slovenia and Donnie Walsh compared him to Antonio Davis.. Secondly, Sheridan left ESPN. He wasn’t fired.
The things you guys argue about.
Donnie Walsh never compared him to Antonio Davis, he said simply because a guy is a second round pick does not mean he can’t play, and pointed out that he drafted Antonio Davis in the second round. His college career should be taken with a grain of salt, because his conference had so few real big men, and his team didn’t face many quality bigs in non conference. His senior year the best big he faced was Marshall’s Hassan Whiteside, who was a Freshman playing in his 5th college game. Jordan got the better of him that day, but barely. Whiteside has not exactly lit up the NBA now has he?
Lastly Tyson Chandler is going to play 36 minutes a night barring foul trouble so really if Jordan, Harrellson, Jeffries or whomever the stick in there just plays with some energy that is all they need to do!

actually there was a game
The Landryman can
from what i gather
jerome jordan will absolutely be able to hit the 10-15 foot jumper on pick and pops. but he doesn’t really muscle up too good.
/// aighttho.com \\/// twitter.com/aighttho \\
time will tell
he’ll be going up against tyson chandler and jared jeffries and josh harrellson in practice, and that might be a perfect recipe for his success. but it absolutely remains to be seen.

I wonder how much can be lent to
having better athletic training in the US than in Serbia? Maybe he’ll have the opportunity to bulk up and get stronger here that he wouldn’t overseas. Like when high school players have to deal with the athleticism/strength learning curve once they start playing college ball; it usually takes a year for them to fully hit their strength potential with all of that new, fancy training.
Just a thought.

Harrellson isn't the key to anything
He’s a second round big man. Temper your expectations.
I hope...
DWTDD plays every minute Melo is not on the floor….. I’d really like to see DWTDD be the “sixth man” . Like last year, he came in and gave a spark without needing any assistance really….
Out of anyone besides Melo and Amare, he’s really the only one left who can create for himself, without help from others….
Time when Melo is on the pine. We need DWTDD to be the man more than anyone.
If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere...It's up to you, New York, New York!!!!
i think shump can create for himself
in fact, i think its his passing game most are not sure about.
I think it was Bobby V who said: "You are never as good as you are when you are at your best, and you are not as bad as when you are at your worst."
Like the really funny uncle with a healthy bourbon habit who matches every brilliant Thanksgiving story with one or two ill-advised racist jokes or boob grabs, we’re stuck with Melo. So we might as well learn to love him — quirks and all. http://knickerblogger.net/2011-report-card-carmelo-anthony/
I'd like to say 'go ahead an add Shawne Williams to your roster, too'
but we don’t know about that yet. Dude fills a huge role on this team at the forward position, because, as you can clearly see, we don’t have a backup SF or backup PF at the moment (I consider Jeffries a PF-C) and Shawne Williams is a hybrid forward at 6’9. It will be kinda stupid if we have to give him 3 years, but basically we need to do whatever we need to do to retain him. I don’t think it’s debatable.
Agreed. 100%
"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
LET'S GO RANGERS!!!
u forgot 2 guys
on the current roster at least theres 2 guys u should at least acknowledge : Billy (bully) Walker and The Balkman man lol. Bill is a key rotation player and should be 6 man as of now not shump just saying
I really like Bully
Can be streaky but can give quality minutes and is a decent defender. One thing I really hope this year is that MDA expands his rotation and doesn’t yank guys minutes around as much. I hate hearing players say the coach hasn’t spoken to them when they lose playing time as well.

I agree
I think Bill Walker has the potential to be our sixth man this year. At least I hope he is. Don’t get me wrong, I think Shumpert will get his playing time, but he’s not our sixth man as of right now. Walker, for me, is that big wild card. I think he just needs to put in the effort ALL the time. If he does, he’ll be very good for us. Also, he’s a highlight dunk waiting to happen which is always fun to watch. Lets go Billy!
by CJGreffrath on Dec 12, 2011 10:11 AM EST up reply actions
I dont see shumpert as 6th man..i say he starts by midseason
1)share distribution with toney
2)slasher, of which TD doesnt really do
3)defense
Yes, he would do those three things well...
But he’s not going to be our starting shooting guard. Landry Fields has it and he deserves it. I like Shumpert, but he still has to prove himself before he gets any significant minutes, which I think he will.
Your right
He is already a fan favorite((around here) without ever having played a second. I love the guy.
The Landryman can
Relax folks I already told you he will wet the bed a little as a rookie
and start on the way to beasting his second year!
