Chris Hunter and Devin Green have been waived.
Howard Beck just twat it:
Knicks have waived their two training camp invitees: Devin Green and Chris Hunter. Roster is at 14 players, with one open slot.
Farewell, Chris and Devin. Chris didn't get to spin in preseason, but I thought he might have something to offer. Green didn't fit quite as well, but looked awesome in last night's game. We'll never forget that game, Devin. 12/21/11 <3

dammit.
i would have really felt good if we had kept Devin around.
Sign Hong-Chih Kuo, Trade for Peter Bourjos
I actually thought Hunter had a shot at making the roster when brought him into camp... but he never played in pre-season so he was def not making it
Seem like good kids, wish them well in their future NBA endeavors
It's got to.
Why else let go of Green after his blowout performance last night?

i think part of that
was letting Green get some air time and some stat building so he can latch on somewhere else.
Because, he played well last night, so they had to have felt they were letting him go before that. There is no way last night made them say, we dont want this guy around.
I think it was Bobby V who said: "You are never as good as you are when you are at your best, and you are not as bad as when you are at your worst."
Right, but why
would the Knicks be interested in letting Green latch on somewhere else when they have a spot for him and he’s proved himself to be a capable player? Esp. when Bibby has just become a question mark because of his back spasms, thus making a little extra room on the bench for an extra guard.
It only makes sense if the Knicks don’t think they have a spot for him, i.e. if they have plans to pick up someone else.

maybe we're looking for someone more proven
don’t know who the hell that could be at this point though unless those Martin rumblings are true.
But he can’t spin til February earliest so that would make no sense for them to be waived now, unless they were trying to be kind knowing that they weren’t gonna keep em on the team.

yup
i think they have plans to pick up someone else.
but also, i mean, you can only dress 13, so its not really going to have much of an effect on our team. He may have also expressed interest in being dropped so he can get more PT then sitting on the bench.

Maybe
“He may have also expressed interest in being dropped so he can get more PT then sitting on the bench.”
That makes sense — as long as we think that Devin Green has a good chance of getting playing time elsewhere at this point. I wouldn’t be so optimistic if I were him.
“Its not really going to have much of an effect on our team.”
Yeah, 3rd string guards don’t usually have much of an effect. I came to like Devin, but really this is only interesting if it means we’re picking up someone else who might play in the 2nd string. I’m at a loss as to who that would be though.
there are lots of bad teams out there
where he can get a shot at more PT.
He will sign on, I would have kept him, and felt there was a pooped sized hole for him to fill, but whateves.

Doesnt mean anything
Typical training camp fodder, nothing lost
Suspect the mini-mid will be held until a development later once the season starts (sign a player waived, injury on NY’s roster, etc.)
Using it now would be using just for using sake

oof, Brook Lopez out till February.
poor Nets hahaha.
RJ Swindle for LOOGY
I have a man-crush on Peter Bourjos
OUCH!
There was a time where I would have felt bad for the Nets over something like this, but considering how they have been behaving lately with their silly little “We are going to take NYC over from the Knicks” theme I guess I just don’t. Sorry.
I’m 90% sure Deron Williams is saying to himself “I wish I had stayed in Turkey!”
I think that Deron may have contacted a real estate broker in Dallas
Just a guess.

a few of those guys are okay
but the theme of the site and the knicks hate is rampant so I get what you mean. Still, I wouldn’t wanna be them right now. That’s a mean dose of tough luck, I’d never wish it on them.

The injury to Brick Slopez could be a blessing in disguise for the Nets Dwight pursuit.
One of the reasons I think Orlando pulled out of trade talks with the Nets is so that they can give the Nets an opportunity to suck real bad up until the trade deadline. And in the process of doing so it would enhance the value of the Nets own pick in what is shaping up to be one of the best drafts ever. The injury to Brook Lopez- if he is out say, 2-3 months- ensures a bottom 5 finish in the East, thus making that pick appear more valuable. And that doesn’t even include the Houston lottery-protected pick which appears to be out of lottery-range with that deep-ass roster and the Dalembert signing. When life gives you lemons you make lemonade….
yeah
and if he can make it back before the deadline, and show he is healthy he can be part of the trade, so that pick will look real nice and they will still have the trade chip.

Comforting Baron Davis fact:
Taking into account every single one of his 12 years: He has played in the final month including the playoffs when possible, in 11 of his 12 years. The only exception was 2005-2006 season when he missed the final 2 months due to injury.
I feel bad for Devin and Chris,
but I’m also intrigued. Glen wouldn’t have done this without having some other move in mind.
Any predictions on what that move might be?

Keep the roster at 14 and sign KMart when he gets back from China….
This season is going to be greuling so getting mid-season injections of Davis and Martin could boost us deep into the playoffs
