Warriors star point guard Stephen Curry (ankle) likely will miss tonight’s game. Curry’s agent, Lance Young, told USA Today, "With this shortened season and back-to-backs, for him to be able to get four days of rest and get ready for Saturday [against the 76ers], he thought that [sitting out] probably would be the right thing."
From the Post
No Paul Pierce in the last one, no Curry in this one, and no Andrew Bynum in the next one. No complaints here.

here's to wishing that Tyreke Evans and Marcus Thornton
develop some sort of food ailment from celebrating New Year’s a but too early. :crosses fingers:
Sweet!
Can’t wait for the whole sporting world to start complaining about how we beat teams ravaged by injuries, and how the NBA scheduling is biased.
I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious.

except we are a team ravaged by injuries so it might not fly.

Yep
ESPN can give a story like that more wings than Red Bull.
Thanks for making us a contender, Donnie.

Normally this gets me a little upset
I like facing other teams’ good players, and I like to think that we can beat them fair and square….
But for this season, I kinda just want to get wins and give our team less problems on the court so that they can gel a little quicker. Also, for D’Antoni’s sake, I want this team to win and win quickly so it shuts up the lynch mob for a bit

agreed
thing is though, we’d get flack either way.
it’s all about beating teams we’re supposed to be able to beat and finding ways to win. if their star player is out and we lost, ESPN would be all over it saying how we’re pretenders after all.
on a side note, the teams that are gonna scare the crap out of me come play off time are the Pacers and Sixers. sure we have melo this time around, but being better than these teams on paper isn’t enough. but i am liking what i’m seeing from our team this year so let’s go get some wins!
ESPN just loves to rag on the Knicks...
It makes me happy that the Celtics and Lakers are 0-2 only thing that would be better is if the Heat were 0-2 as well.
I think it’s ok that these teams aren’t at 100% because neither are we without Baron.

Ditto
It’s weird to be happy that you won’t be getting a team at 100%, but the potential for this team to actually accomplish that one seemingly impossible goal of a championship feels so delicate right now that anything to help that cause is welcome.
Now now, I spent all weekend making this noose and dammit i want to use it!

getting a few early wins
regardless of the competition- makes it less important for our injured guys to rush back too soon. and that will be key.

THE KNICKS ONLY BEAT TEAMS WITH INJURIES
Oh wait I’m not a Celtics fan.
only thing more overated and soft than osi umenyora is the 2011 eagles

I love the Celtics fans that use Pierce's injuries as an excuse
But last year when we mentioned Billups being out and Amare playing hurt it wasn’t allowed

Exactly. The hypocrisy never ends. This year all scores w/ all teams will be settled.
The Knicks are the Corleones and the Heat are the Tatagglias, the Celtics the Barzinis, the Bulls are the Cuneos and Pacers are the Straccis.
Does this mean Melo's gonna have to run hide in Italy
and fall in love and get married only to see his wife assassinated with a car bomb?
Thanks for making us a contender, Donnie.

that was so weak on their parts . . .
first of all, it’s the first game of the season. you don’t need to be so eager to start making excuses yet.

I with ya
A win is a win. Get as many as possible, by any means necessary. Make the playoffs and let some guys rest for the marathon that ensues.
Agreed^
I was going to make the point how people are going to say that were only getting the wins because of injury, but looks like everybodys aware of that. Hopefully TD can defend Monte Ellis though.
Would have been fun to see Shump guard Ellis
Damn you, Chris Wilcox!!

don't really care who is in or out during this road trip.
Only thing that matters is whether the knicks can figure out a rotation that can beat Miami and chicago.
Period.
All else is just espn talking head blather.
The heat have already been crowned this year and yet, a Pierce-less Celtics without Jeff Green and a decent center gave Miami all they could handle last night.
try telling that to some of the Heat worshippers here and on ESPN....they just trotted out a stat today that the Heat are averaging 9 more possessions per game...The fact that they only played 2 slow and old as a fuck injured teams didn't deter these
sportswriters for disseminating their bullshit. Also apparently the Knicks, Bulls, Thunder and every other contender are simply not as “motivated” and “determined” to win a championships as are the Heat. They just simply aren’t equally motivated. Why? Because last year every team in the NBA won a championship except the Heat.
The Heat are playing faster but what you should be pissed about is where are all the people
screaming that scoring 115 pts a game will not win in the playoffs! If the Knicks win 115 to 107 the cry will be, “Fire that Fucking coach,” and “when are the Knicks gonna play defense?” The Heat win a game while giving up 107 pts and they are a fucking juggernaut! Good to see however that I was right, that a team that actually scores points can win games tho!

He is also a tremendous shooter
Who can and will hit open jumpers. The Knicks are very good at leaving people open for jumpers.
Curry may actually play
But…even still, will being guarded by Curry or Ish Smith make much of a difference in how Toney Douglas plays?
It shouldn't one bit. Toney needs to attack both of them offensively and be aggressive defensively
Whether people realize it or not Toney Douglas is not in the NBA because he projected to be the next John Stockton in college. Toney Douglas is a NBA player because he was ACC defensive player of the year and averaged 21.5 pts per game which was good enough for 2nd in the conference in scoring. Shooting the damn ball and playing defense got him to finish 3rd in the conference player of the year voting and if not for some pretty obvious North Carolina bias, should of been player of the year in the conference. Shooting the ball and playing defense is what go him to the dance. And now that he is here, shooting the ball and playing aggressive defense is what he needs to do to help this team win games. He is not Steve Nash or jason Kidd and he will lose this team games if he tries to be. The best chance for him to help us win games is to play as hard as he can on defense and shoot the damn ball on offense. You succeed doing what you do best. Running offenses and playmaking is not what he does best. D’Antoni Knows this, but he chose to start him, why because D’Antoni believes that what Toney Douglas can do is good enough to win with and as long has he does it, then D’antoni will figure out how to get some playmaking done! We love to say DWTDD around here, well it is time to walk the talk!

Dang son, your on fire today.
We all know its about B.Diddy once he gets back, and from what I gather about herniated discs, you can prevent them through daily rigorous back exercises and less than 10 percent of them require surgery. So once he gets back, the Knicks are done, and so is the league. Till then Melo’s playmaking-induced 5 TOs worry me a bit.
Correction....
Running offenses and playmaking is not what he does best at all.
There. fixed it for ya.

Nice. Think melo will see more point forward time tonight then he did the 1st game? Especially with Shump hurt, you'd think so.
What do you mean they won 4 cups in a row? Is that possible?
Although, Bibby might just take most of it.
