will hopefully be better.
Darrelle Revis once won a game of Connect Four in three moves.

Just ugh....
The Knicks are basically the same team as last year. Bad defensively, inconsistent offensively, and barely cohesive.
Sigh, gonna go stress eat some pudding and chip salt.
Let's see...
Amar’e, Melo, and TD combined to shoot 11 for 38, while Chandler gave us literally nothing. Bill Walker was on, Novak hit a 3, Amar’e rebounded well in the first 3 quarters, and Jeremy Lin made a nice play that led to two free-throws for Jerome Jordan, and that play will be the basis for the demand that he starts over TD in the Knicks’ next game. Tss all I got

Bully on D tho, he looks like he gives an effort but still don't get stops
Jordan looked OK for the short burn he got.
I think we all think Jordan looked OK cus we finally saw him physically moving. He looks athletic. Can't say much, he played 2 garbage minutes.

Yup - I'll take that over the ticky tack foul and go to the bench of Chandler tonight
Someone’s gotta go get boards
He shouldnt
be playing so far away from the basket. I seriously dont understand why we dont try the Dallas zone

rebounding
toney douglas can’t make obvious passes. foul trouble. we stunk it up. but whatever, move on to the next one. this one already doesn’t matter.

We should start Bibby, TD off the bench as an energy guy is where he excels.
(I don’t like the idea of starting Bibby but atleast he’s a PG)
In Donnie we trust.
Yeah but atleast he'll pass the ball...I think.

Pick your poison
We need Baron bad. Hell, Shump would have helped a lot tonight. Those disgustingly easy buckets off penetration don’t happen with Shump defending.
Agreed on Shump...Even when he misses he at least can initiate offense and penetrate the D
Baron as well. I just hope we’re getting the Baron we’re all thinking of.
Agree with you there.
But Toney needs to pick his damn head up and realize he’s not as skilled as everyone else on the team to be chucking shots like that.
In Donnie we trust.
by $100M Contract on Dec 29, 2011 1:17 AM EST up reply actions
I'm worried that Toney will never learn this
Shump at least admits he has shot selection issues. Toney thinks he’s the original #23.
I think when TD gets back to not being the initiator and to being a shooter off the bench
His shooting will be better. I know it’s early but I’m really running outta confidence in his PG skills. We saw Felton eventually come out of his funk after 14-17 games, but I’m not feeling that here
I think we've seen what Toney is and that's it. Nothing more. But I agree with you...
When he’s back on the bench he’ll shine. I think he’s feeling the pressure of running what is to be an elite offense. LOL dude doesn’t realize it means “pass.”
In Donnie we trust.

Agreed again, 3's are nice but when we're missing them they're killers...especially when we can't get an O board
It makes me appreciate guys like Baron and Iman who can penetrate and break down a D when they’re clogging the middle. TD just can’t do that. I’ll take the 2 any day instead of just chucking prayer 3’s. Bibby looked great for a short spin there, but offers nothing on D.
We need Baron Davis now!!!!!!

it makes no sense
having this coach for this team if his offense requires a playmaker of steve nash’s abilitiy…we don’t have anyone with those talents…so either change the system or the coach has to go.
Diddy is no guarantee
we have no idea what he’ll give us when he gets back…and it makes no sense throwing the first 2 months of the season in the trash waiting for him.
oh man

But we aren’t deep enough into the season for him to properly rip them a new asshole. Shots were off. Brains were off. Effort was OK but it wasn’t devastatingly bad. It’s the second game of the season…there were enough excuses for this game for him not to go bonkers

PG – Felton SG – Fields SF – Gallo PF – Amare C – Chandler
Main Bench: Wilson Chandler and Toney Douglas
This might be premature, but I was never a fan of the Melo trade man. Fucking loved this Knicks team. Had ball movement and it had a great energy. New Knicks team don’t pass for shit and count on Melo too much. Maybe it’s the coaching, but damn
2010-2011 Knicks forever
Nowadays everybody wanna talk, like they got something to say, but nothing comes out when they move their lips, just a bunch of gibberish and motherfu****s act like they forgot about Dre

Oh shut uppppppppppppppp
Really? We’re going to have to argue this after every single loss?
Because before the trade we never lost a game.
Do the Shumpty Shump, come on and do the Shumpty Shump
Chandler probably never comes here if we don't have Melo.
Also, Melo won the Boston game. C’mon.
Even though I'm sympathetic to this view
let’s please stop posting this stuff, if only because it hurts those of us who believed in that team
We're better for having Melo. Sincerely.
Yeah that team was fun to watch but I’d rather have this one than that one.

This game was very flat all around with no 2nd effort from anyone
Throw it away and start over. I miss guys like Gallo but that’s life. I HATE iso Basketball, but it isn’t gonna change without guys like Shump and Davis (hopefully the Davis of old with plenty left in the tank) on the floor. Melo’s great but got D’d up well tonight and neither he nor Amar’e looked elsewhere or created for anyone else. We were dead in the water tonight. Next game!
Hopefully this will get us...
fired up for the Lakers tomorrow. I mean we can sit here and say TD sucks and Melo and STAT force shots and Landry is playing tentative and TD really sucks and Tyson does nothing but get fouls but at the end of the day this is the best team we’ve had in years. Melo was off tonight, STAT was off but decided to try this thing called “rebounding”, Tyson had a bad night, Landry had some good moments and some really bad ones, Bully did ok, TD did suck tonight but there will be more nights when he DWTDD. Anyway it’ll get better.
No one on the team could shoot
No one could rebound.
Defense was good in the first half, nonexistent in the second
Jerome Jordan, Jeremy Lin, and the Goose seem promising
We just stopped trying at a certain point
Do the Shumpty Shump, come on and do the Shumpty Shump
Jerome Jordan already looks better than Jeffries

Lin deserves a longer look
Slashed to the hoop with speed, a crisp pass and hit the floor for a loose ball. Start Bibs.

I think he deserves a look too
based on his skill set and the fact that we need help at PG but that extremely limited garbage time didn’t impress me. He played well, didn’t fuck anything up and did some positive things but again…it’s garbage time and it was maybe a minute tops, and the game was already in hand.

I dont understand
where the defensive intensity goes. Chandler leaves, and we are toast on the interior. I thin Jeffries is actually more important than I EVER could have imagined. Jordan may really need to get some burn till Kenyon comes over and JJ is back.
by MetsKnicksRutgers on Dec 29, 2011 1:23 AM EST reply actions
I honestly won't expect much from Martin if he comes here
But, if so, hope to be pleasantly surprised
Really?
He is incredibly solid especially as a backup 4. Dude si a dick, but he is a solid, solid player.
by MetsKnicksRutgers on Dec 29, 2011 1:34 AM EST up reply actions
I don't know about his tude these days
But my eyes over the years remember many games of mixed effort. Which pretty much describes most of our players before now. This deep in his career i’ve seen enuff of that myself.
I can understand a loss
but where was the offense and defense? The whole team, especially in the 4th, looked like they’ve NEVER played organized basketball before. No ball movement, noone even trying to drive to the rim. And on D, the SIMPLEST plays worked against the Knicks. This was an embarassment.
FWIW, We lost in the last ten minutes of the game and hung around for the rest. Ugh.
In Donnie we trust.
by $100M Contract on Dec 29, 2011 1:24 AM EST up reply actions
Not necessarily "a lot"...
we do have back-to-backs in normal years too. I know this is a condensed schedule and as much rest as possible is good… but I think the grind will really start 1/2 way through when the number of back-to-backs start to catch up with guys.
Minor rant – I hate how “early season” conditioning always is discussed as an issue. I know being in game shape is different, but isn’t it part of their jobs to be in the best shape they can be in? Shouldn’t that be a year round thing? I know it doesn’t happen, but you’d think most guys would work out hard all year long to stay in great shape and not have these early season conditioning issues…
I don't like this but I'll get behind it just because I'm mad at Toney tonight.

by MetsKnicksRutgers on Dec 29, 2011 1:26 AM EST up reply actions
He's fine as a scorer I guess
But he has no idea how to run an offense it’s atrocious
He really just needs to be on the bench.
We might have to start Bibby as much as it sucks.
It's clear Bibby needs to start over TD
by I know smart people on Dec 29, 2011 2:15 AM EST up reply actions
And if Bibby doesn't work out
give the job to Lin until Baron is ready.

I think what hurts the most, is that in the third, when GS finally managed to take back the lead
We looked completely LOST. No passing, fluidity, sense of direction at all. When runs start, good teams don’t panic, they run a money play, get to the basket and stop the bleeding. We just sleep walked and let the Warriors run us up and down the court. Disgusting.

Really, though, Lin averaged 1.4 assists and 0.6 TO’s in limited minutes for GSW last year, so he took care of the ball admirably in what little he played. I’ll a quick, pass-first guy who takes care of the rock right about now.

If they beat the Lakers tomorrow then this game will have meant nothing. Hopefully, that affirmation will come to fruition. As for what happened, I’ll never understand how someone drives down the lane, goes behind the basket and NO ONE playing defense has the foresight to anticipate the pass. In my book that’s cookies all day. We need Derek Harper!
I’m serious, Derek Harper would have stolen that ball/pass play one hundred percent of the time.
sigh. Toney D. had some rebounds and steals, but this loss is not his fault. Remember, we got two top 15 players on our roster. What happened to their grit and will to win? Let’s all shoot some friendly jump-shots.

I think it's pretty clear that Toney Douglas is NOT a starting PG in the NBA
But the thing that’s I’m pondering is where were the defensive adjustments during those time outs? Isn’t a coach supposed to coach? The entire second half was a bad record on repeat.

That was so terrible, where was our new found defense? Come on! We beat the Celtics and cant even win against Golden State? So dissapointed! Were suppose to have scorers out of Amar’e and Melo not chokers Nuff Said.
Home court.
I think early in the season home court advantage will be a HUGE thing. Without a full training camp and such to get things rolling, simply having more energy than your opponent will account for more wins that normal. I’m not mad at this loss… I’m just mad at how bad we looked in doing it.
The Knicks collectively looked like a lazy drug dealer tonight.

horrible effort, but
let’s not underrate golden state. They have a solid squad and beat the Bulls the other night. They have a deep team and showed that tonight. We also sucked but it’s only second game of the season and our best players had off nights. TD had a bad game also and he is usually the third best scorer. Oh well, as frustrating as this is, we gotta move to LA tomorrow and hopefully play much better. Maybe they will be more motivated tomorrow.
Yeah theyre not a bad team, I don't think anyone feels they are.
But we shouldn’t be losing by 20 damn points at any time to that team with the talent on our squad. The effort wasn’t there which is what bothers me really.
