I had a bad feeling about this one.  You can look it up.

Anyway, the Clips hit 9-17 from three in this game and the Knicks were 6-26 and they lost by 8 points.

So, I mean, if the Knicks were 8 of 26 and the Clips were 7 of 19, that's a 12 point swing right there.    But I mean, against a team that's not a great team, you should be able to weather them having a hot shooting night and win the game anyway.  That's where the 'energy' comes in that D'antoni and Amar'e were talking about.

The Knicks didn't get pummeled on the boards as is their usual m.o. for losing games in which they don't hit their threes.  The Clippers just got very good shooting.  Maybe they got lucky, and I didn't see the game, but probably, the Knicks just didn't have the right defensive intensity for much of the game.

I do think they got wrapped up in not letting Griffin show them up and got wrapped down by the other reasonably talented players on their squad.  Griffins game from the box score looks decent but hardly dominating.  10-17 but only 6 rebounds and 2 assists and 5 turnovers.  Looks like they did a good job on Griffin and forgot about everyone else.

Offensively you have to notice that Chandler, Fields and Gallo (the most mentioned names in a Melo trade) went 10-34 from the field, and more tellingly, 2-15 from beyond the arc.  Add in Extra E and it's 11-38 from the field and 2-18 from beyond the arc.  OUCH.  Hard to win a game that way, if you're the Knicks.  Think about it - if those 4 had managed 5-18 (still a crappy percentage) that may have been enough to win the game.  Gallo, of course, made up for it by taking and hitting 14 foul shots.  Wow!  

But for Chandler and Fields.. I wonder if the trade rumors are affecting them.  And yesterday we had that trade rumor involving Felton for Billups... and last night his energy was kind of meh.

I hate the fuckin' trade deadline, I really do.  I think the Knicks are going to drop below .500, but they'll rally toward the end of the year once all this shit gets sorted out.

Denver keeps losing winnable games too, btw.
