Looking at the big picture

The Knicks at the moment are considering trading several players to the Nuggets. Many people claim that were giving up to much for Melo. I, however, think that many of the players would not even be here in 2 years if we kept them.

Felton- Many sources say that Walsh is focussing on building a contender like the heat did using 3 max players. The next opportunity to get that third is in 2012 when Chris Paul and Deron WIlliams are available. Both seem unhappy in their current situation and would likely jump at the chance to get to play in NY with Amare and Melo. Felton is just a 2 year bridge until Walsh can get one of the two elite pg's of the league. Swapping him for Billups would virtually be the same except that one is old and one is young. I dont think their is a huge difference in the play between the two and billups can do what felton has been doing.

Chandler- Even if we waited this out until free agency, he wouldnt be back so we would have cap room to sign Melo. Losing him means nothing.

Randolph- Was D'antoni really ever going to play him anyway?

Eddy Curry- Nothing needs to be explained

----------------------------------------------------------

Gallo- This is the only real asset i think we lose in this trade . Gallo has good potential and giving him up hurts.

----------------------------------------------------------

Basically, I think in a year and a half our team would be the same if we either traded for Melo or took a risk and hoped we would sign him which seems unlikely now. No Knick fan should be upset about this deal. Add fields though and we should riot Dolan.
