Jimmer wants to play for the Knicks

Doesn't everybody? I can't say this bothers me, but we seem to have a bit of a glut at PG with Toney Douglas and Andy Rautins (who I'm personally high on) going forward. Our primary need is at C. In fact, I wouldn't mind trying to package Billups in an effort to get that fine centre they got playing in Toronto.

What center plays in Toronto?

Amir Johnson? Fuck that. We need tall people, yea, but they must be heavyweights too. That’s 90% of our problem is that Amar’e is the only dude 6"10 240+lbs on the team.

Andrea Bargniani… 7’1" I think? Solid inside and can hit the 3.

I wouldn't trade Eddy Curry's ghost for Bargnani.

That's not an issue for us. We need interior defense and rebounding, and barg don't do it.

Proud Islanders fan, the organization that iced the greatest team to ever play the game and won 4 straight cups. Best overall player in the nhl right now=Pavel Datsyuk.
I'm also an optimistic Knicks fan, pessimistic Mets fan, and a happy Jets fan.

What you miss Gallo or something? Or is there now a quota

for Italian 3pt line humpers on the Knicks that I did not know about!

by Robert Curre on Mar 17, 2011 11:12 AM EDT up reply actions

Offensively, he'd be perfect next to Amar'e

Everywhere else? Horrible.

Achievement is its own reward, pride obscures it.

You want Barg?

So the Knicks can field the no defense NBA team? He and Amare are both help defenders, w/ weak man to man. Amar’e can at least slow down someone, Barg is horrible

by fumblesnout on Mar 16, 2011 4:31 PM EDT reply actions

I think the guy is just crazy under-rated. He’s strong down low and probably one of the best 3-pt shooting centre in the league. The guy is solid and would in the Knicks’ system. Only question is the cash.

by AErskine on Mar 16, 2011 4:37 PM EDT up reply actions

Bargnani is literally the opposite of what the Knicks need at center

I literally cannot think of a less intimidating, less defensively-inclined, poorer-rebounding option out there.

Me?

Big man’s game in a little man’s body. Crashin’ the boards with this 6’1" frame, bitch.

I dont care if Bargnani is the best 3 point shooter in the world

He cant rebound which is the single most important thing for an NBA center

Gas prices today are a lot like a pitcher's ERA. Anything under 3 is amazing, under 4 is pretty good and anything 5 and up is something you want to avoid.

by Bobby Baseball on Mar 16, 2011 5:00 PM EDT reply actions

bargnani would be horrible

I dont care how good he is I dont want a 7ft center hanging out at the 3pt line

Now now David lee actually runs the other way when 6' 2 guys come into the paint.

Bargs will at least stand there and look stupid!!!!!! That is actually an upgrade!!!!!

i just ave to ask..

how and why are you

personally high on
Andy Rautins?

What has he ever shown to give you a high on his basketball skills? Cause everytime I have seen him play, I understand why he is our 15th man.

Now dont get me wrong, I think he is a fine guy to have around. Practice needs guys that play hard and he is prob a smart bball guy…

But I am seriously asking why are you personally high on him? Cause I dont get it.

I think it was Bobby V who said: "You are never as good as you are when you are at your best, and you are not as bad as when you are at your worst."

by gbaked on Mar 16, 2011 5:28 PM EDT reply actions

considering he wants us to get Bargniani...

I’d say there’s something he’s high on regarding Rautins too.

He's Landy's bro

and… thats it.

Or rather, I don’t care for Jimmer, one way or another.

BUT!

I do like saying his name…

Jimmer…
Jimmer…
Jimmer…

Jimmer the Winner!

It would be great to have Jimmer the Winner.
The only problem is that our Knicks need a starting SG/C and backup PF/C first along with a whole new coaching staff.

Jimmer the Winner can wait until we get our needs taken care of.

Jimmer does not rhyme with winner

It does however rhyme with shimmer, glimmer, swimmer, primer, slimmer, and my favorite “simmer” and probably many other words that have nothing to do with basketball.

Alright. So its just me. I still think Barg is crazy under rated and that he would be a fantastic option. If not him there’s always Marc Gasol or what would be far cheaper options in perennially injured yet high in potential Yao Ming and Greg Oden.

And I like Rautins as a solid back-up PG/SG. I think his college career demonstrates that he can contribute. But I wouldn’t pretend he has a future as a starter on a team looking to win a championship.

greg oden

is actually something i have some hopes on.

Although it looks like he is def out till training camp, so he will be a pickup to help us later in the year. He would be a good gamble IMO as long as he doesnt cost TOO much. He is a RFA (like Gasol) but there is a chance the Blazers wont spend too much on him (unlike Gasol).

Pass on Yao Ming. That is not worth the headache. We already have way too much media around this team, we dont need to add all of China too.

I think it was Bobby V who said: "You are never as good as you are when you are at your best, and you are not as bad as when you are at your worst."

cap will inevitably be very tight

but i too am down with a greg oden gamble. We don’t need him to be a wild man in the paint, just a presence.

Most Definitely

Now Now,

You don’t have to worry about Bargs.
A) Toronto doesn’t want another point guard
B) Remember D’Atnoni doesn’t play anyone 7 feet so bargs would not play here.
