The NY Post quotes Donnie as taking the blame for the Knicks' swoon. Poor Donnie - what else could he say?
Nobody in the real world believes that he or D'Antoni wanted this trade. It was all about an owner who knows nothing about building a team. It was about an owner who was planning to raise prices 50% and decided that he needed a star attraction like Carmelo. Did Dolan really believe that the trade would improve the team? After all, how can you lose with 2 scoring machines like Amare and Melo? Did anyone ever suggest to Dolan that basketball is a 5 man game that requires a supporting cast of 3 more on the bench? Did anyone warn him that big trades in the middle of the year involves great risk?
I'm certain that Donnie and Mike made those comments and were overruled. So now both have to be loyal employees or become ex employees.
