I was personally against trading for Melo once I saw what we would part with and Im not just saying this because of the struggles we have gone through since the trade went down but those guys with Amar'e and Landry turned the Knicks around. We finally made solid draft picks in Gallo and Will along with Landry this year and with this group we were turning heads and no longer a laughingstock and easy "W" for the rest of the league. We obviously were a couple pieces away from being true contenders but this was our team, our guys and made us able to wear Knicks gear in public without being made a mockery of. I like many of us LOVED those guys and i truly get mad when i think of them being traded. Yes i know we received Melo and billups but this is no longer our team (i know its still the Knicks but not the same as it was to start the year) I was at the game last Wednesday against the Magic and besides blowing a lead, they looked emotionless. You knew that if we were going to loose Gallo Will Ray Amar'e and Landry were going down swinging. This group just doesn't show the heart i feel the old guys did. Amar'e and Landry are struggling to find their way with only Toney growing from this trade. We are no longer an up tempo offense with Melo holding the ball waiting to make a move and now theres talk of D'Antoni tweaking the offense but why have Mike Martz if your going to be a running team. Eventually we'll become consistent winners, we have to with just talent alone but even then ill still look at the trade negatively. I know everyone has put their Melo input in but i just got a username so i figured id make a post. Could we have benefited from make multiple smaller moves in the future like a defensive C (Tyson Chandler), a vet like Gerald Wallace who can score, rebound, defend and lead. A catch and shoot SG or guys to spell Felton and STAT. Idk theres no going back but venting helped a little bit i guess haha. Still Love my Knicks though.
