Missing the game, which I have tickets to... boo on work.
I know the 6th seed could be a gotcha seed, since the Heat and Celtics are dead even for 2nd and 3rd, but for me it's about pride and going into the playoffs strong. I would much rather go in being the 6th seed than the 7th, wouldn't you?
Here's an interesting seeding set-up: Should the Knicks and Sixers end up with the same record at the end of the season, they're even in head-to-head games, so the tie-breaker will be whichever team has a better division record. Right now here's where it stands:
Knicks: 9-5 in the Atlantic, with Boston and Jersey left to play
Sixers: 8-7 in the Atlantic, with just Toronto left to play
So if the Knicks win tonight, that will also seal up that tie-breaker.
Right now the magic number to beat the Sixers is 4, but a win tonight along with the tie-breaker brings it down to 2 - with the Sixers still having to beat Orlando.
Also of note: The Knicks haven't been formally eliminated from the 5th spot, but a loss from them or a win by the Hawks would do that.
