Miami- Bulls series will tell the tale.

This series will reveal a great deal about the Knicks' prospects next year.

As we all know, Miami has 3 superstars and a modest supporting cast. If they do not win vs. Chicago, what does that say about NY's chances with only 2 superstars and a mediocre supporting cast? You can mention the usual suspects like Billups, Douglas, and Fields, but that does not add up to  decent support. By the way, it is a measure of their desperation that they were willing to pay 14  million to a 35 year old Billups.

If they don't get a decent center, all the defensive strategy in the world won't get them past the first round of the playoffs next year.

Speaking of defensve coaching, I would remind you all that the Knicks have 4 assistants who I assume are full time employees. Are these guys deficient? Do they know the importance of good defense? Is there anyone in the NBA who does not appreciate the value of good defense?  Forget about acquiring a defensive coach-  get a decent  center.
