Old Friends

As I continue to struggle with the depression and insanity that a few months (or more) of no Knick basketball (AND NO SUMMER LEAGUE?!?!?) brings, I thought it would be fun to have a thread where we can discuss the glories of our beloved former Knicks as they quest for the Larry O'Brien. I count 6 who are left in the tournament as of now.

Remnants of the I.T. Era Category:

Z-Bo: 23.3 pts, 9.3 rebs, 3.1 asts, 1.6 stls, 50% from the field.

-A svelte and happy Gazeebo has produced monstrous numbers for the Grizzly Bears. And he may have sent another former friend, Antonio McDyess, into early retirement after completely dominating the boards in their 1st round matchup. Why didn't DeJuan Blair didn't get more minutes? There is a little known rule that prevents the 2 cuddliest big men in the league from playing more than 10 minutes a game against each other. Only Popovich knows of this rule.

-How awesome are those sky-scrapping fall away jumpers that Zach splashes? Seeing Kendrick Perkins just completely mystified while facing up to Z-Bo was almost as good as a Knick win over the Celtics, for me.

Jamal Crawford: 20.7 pts, 2.9asts, 47 % from downtown, and this.

-It's a shame that it took Jamal 9 years to make his first playoff appearance, because I think all of us who watched him as a Knick knew that #11 would take his game to another level in the games that matter the most. Not only does he have the nicest, most under-appreciated handle in the league, Jamal also has a fine habit of hitting game winners from stupid places, as he has shown repeatedly while playing for Clyde Frazier's hometown team.

The Other Guys Category:

Nazr Mohammed: 10 mins, 1 pt, 1.7 rebs

-I always liked Nazr because of his nickname, Nas, who incidentally was excellent in concert last Friday in Syracuse with Damian Marley. That's the rapper Nas, not Nazr for those who are confused. He doesn't play much for the Thunderses, but I still love him.

Kurt Thomas: 9.8 mins, 2.8 pts, 2.0rebs.

-Kurt has brought his trademark scowl and 15 foot jumper to Chicago. I think the Bulls would be better off starting KT than that fake tough guy (FTG, copyright Kevin Durant) Carlos Boozer, but that's just me. I'm also hoping that Kurt and Zaza Pachulia scuffle in this series just so that Kurt can pummel him unmercifully, 90s Knicks style.

Eddie House: Who cares? This guy was never a Knick in my book anyway.

And finally, our beloved Little Nate...who is hurt and will not play in these playoffs.

Personally, I'm hoping for a Grizz-Hawks Finals, which doesn't sound as insane as it did 3 weeks ago, mainly because of the play of two Knicks from a very different time in all of our lives. GO GAZEEBO AND JC11!!!

(Edit: I forgot about Corey Brewer. But it's OK because I don't think he remembers being a Knick either.)
