With the 17th pick in the draft, the NY Knicks....

what we are going to do in the draft will shape us for a long time to come. i think this draft has a bunch of what we need.... depth!!! we need a bunch of quality players to fill in the many holes left from a decimated roster by our incompetent owner...i know we were in the beginning stages of rebuilding and its a process to put a championship roster together. however, i don't want to see bill walker, jared jefferies and roger mason jr in a knick uniform. ever!!!

i have no clue who we will or should draft ... nor do i care as long as we get it right. besides, we never get it right as fans nor do we get who we want. and i'm fine with that as long as the next mike or kobe doesn't evade us. think about the looks on our faces after the last 3 or 4 drafts (who) whether management has gotten it right or wrong.

my belief, b/c of the many holes we have, is to draft the best available player at 17. and, b/c this draft is deep, and when i say deep i mean rotation players for us, i would love to see Donnie reach into dolan's pocket a couple of times and secure some of the many draft picks we have given away for the last decade.

so far Donnie Walsh has done a very good job (with trades and drafting) of putting us in position to compete for a long time going forward. he has made some mistakes as everyone has made during their time as our leader. there has yet to be an out and out fuck up that can't be corrected or has thrown us off of the plan to build a perennial winner. it is taking a lot longer than most knick fans want to wait. yet i feel, and i'm sure most knicks fans with some sense and basketball knowledge would agree, we have a lot to look forward to in the coming season. and our patience has been tested for so long.

i would love a pass first pg for the future, a true sg and a center in no particular order for the roster thru the draft. whether this coach will play them is a different story altogether. though, i have to say he has given toney and landry some burn as youngsters. furthermore, i must say before injury struck us in the playoffs, coach had the guys playing well offensively and surprisingly defensively. i'm not a big fan of his but i think we should be fair in evaluating him with a full roster and training camp. there are not many coaches who come out the gate running -- especially with the roster turn over we had.

in concluding, let see what happens in the draft. it seems like every year rotation players for good teams end up getting picked in the 2nd round. there's no reason why we should not be able to pick up a couple of players to fill out a championship ready roster. and, i know its easier said than done. yet, its time something good has happened to our franchise. we have 3 very good pieces in amare, melo and chauncey and nothing should be handed to anyone.

I'm not into picking who i want b/c as i said earlier, we never get it right. Donnie is in charge and he better not mess this up.
