This is my first trade proposal fanpost so go easy on me. Haven't given it more than 10 minutes worth of thought, but it may accidentally kick ass.
Knicks draft either Burks, Thompson, Brooks or Shumpert with the 17th pick and then trade Landry Fields, Chauncey Billups and Ronny Turiaf to the Cavaliers for Baron Davis and Anderson Varejao.
Why the Cavs do it:
1)Save 40 million, including 23 million off the books for 2012 FA class. Always in the red, they need the money.
2)Obtain a high-quality SF in Landry Fields who can play basketball, do all the little things, rebound and with his off-the ball game feed off of Kyrie Irving. And he replaces the aging Antawn Jamison.
3)Who better to teach your new franchise player how to play the point than Chauncey?
Why the Knicks do it:
1)Well duh, Anderson Varejao.
2)Baron Davis, more years ahead of him plus more suited to Pringles offense: Can score from anywhere, kills in transition. Yes I know his downsides, that's why its called a trade. You trade risk as well.
3)I know I'm not alone on this but I don't believe we have the cap space nor the roster to accommodate a CP3 or Deron.
