Today is Donnie Walsh's last day as Knick GM. I wanted to put up a place for all us P&Ters to say thanks to the man who turned around our beloved franchise.
So thank you Donnie! I have watched almost every knicks game for at least the past 20 years. Until now, attempting to get someone to watch them with me was an impossibility. We dealt with so much crap and bullshit over the years, that your straightforward talk and action was such a welcoming experience. You never wavered from your plan, you always talked in realistic terms ("I am not clearing cap space for 1 player, I am clearing as much space as possible as a way to rebuild the team")
This team was on a downward spiral since the day it traded Ewing, and you stopped that. People now are dismissing it... saying all you did was wait it out. Well, after watching years of GMs compleatly unable to wait for anything... that was just awesome and with that... don't believe the radio call-in hype... us fans appreciate you.
Thank you for Landry. Thank you for Toney. Thanks for Mike D. Thanks for STAT and Melo. Thanks for the memories of Gallo and IllWil. Thanks for finding The Moz! Thanks for all the others I am leaving out. Thanks for your professionalism. Most of all... Thank you for making my Knicks something I can be proud of.
In sports, we are always told to not make someone a savior. That one person cant change a whole franchise... well sir, you saved the Knicks. Thank you, and best of luck to you wherever you go.
