New TV Series....D'antoni: Defense Attorney

Here's an idea for a TV show:

D'Antoni was once a very promising prosecutor in the Bronx Criminal Courthouse. However, he feels unappreciated and underpaid and decides to move to the Defense side of the courtroom, burining bridges along the way. The only problem is....he has no idea how to defend and has lost 20 cases in a row. He is fired from his law firm and with no where else to go, is relegated to being a public defender. Follow D'Antoni every week as he tries to defend a client from a traffic violation, only for them to be found guilty...again and sentenced to 10 years in prison. Prosecutors are continously carving up his weak defense for his clients. He's looking for a sound defense, week after week...tuesdays at 9 on MSG.

Other Ideas:

"D'Antoni's Defensive Driving Workshop" - D'Antoni's insurance agent refuses to cover him because of the number of accidents due to his workshop only teaching "offensive driving"

"D'Antoni: Secretary of Defense" - D'Antoni sends troops everywhere around the world where they are not needed and we get invaded by Canada.

"D"Antoni": Self Defense Instructor- Bullied kids come to learn the art of self defense, only they continue to get their asses kick...because of a lack of defense.

Any other ideas?

What? He's filming a TV show now?!

I absolutely cannot believe the guy has the time to star on TV and enhance his (INEVITABLE) post-Knicks career! Fix the Offense first, Mike! No, forget it, it’s too late; D’Antoni has got to go!

he already has a TV show

Carmelo sells shoes. Amar’e has a fashion line. Shumpert has a rookie blog. Jorts sells Jorts merchandise. I think that’s it for extracurriculars since Landry’s costar was traded away.

Toney Douglas

used to work at Dale and Thomas popcorn in times sq. It was part of isaiah thomas’ severance package… but when that closed he transferred to corporate cause he really believes in the product.

I think it was Bobby V who said: "You are never as good as you are when you are at your best, and you are not as bad as when you are at your worst."

i used to work for a construction company

and i got to use a 32" blade gas saw to cut open the sidewalk and demolish it, at 4 in the morning directly in front of that place once. i think we were doing it illegally to get back at someone, cus we never filled it back in.

if you were doing it to get back at IT

for what he did to the knicks, then I applaud you!

other ideas:

the Knicks become a top 10 team in defensive efficiency early in the season, better than any previous season with D’Antoni coaching. Oh wait, thats actually happening right now.

Glad someone pointed this out

When I saw the title of this post, I thought someone was actually going to give him props for the way the team’s been defending, because that’s the only reason the Knicks have the meager number of wins they have now. Instead, it was kind of a lame joke based on last year’s situation when D’Antoni didn’t have any defenders.

by superturboultra on Jan 18, 2012 8:52 AM EST up reply actions

Defense is more than standing in front of a guy....

Ryan Anderson 7-13 from 3 point range against us? Maybe after the 3rd, 4th, 5th three…there would be some adjustments made? It didn’t happen. They don’t rotate or communicate very well. That’s on Woodson and D’Antoni. That happened recently, not last year. Yeah, we are actually in the vicinity of our man this year, which is a step up…but against a good team we continue to get picked apart.

This is hilarious!

I’m not even on board the Fire D’Antoni train (let’s wait and see what happens when Baron gets here).

But you definitely got some loud audible laughs from me, and I’m at work.

Thanks for making us a contender, Donnie.

by StarksMiddleFinger on Jan 17, 2012 2:52 PM EST reply actions

Glad you got it....

but we can’t wait for the guy we got for the vet’s minimum to be our savior. What happens if he comes back and stinks? Then what….we wait for Nash?

by Oakleytookmylunchmoney on Jan 17, 2012 4:12 PM EST up reply actions

The amount of money we're paying him is irrelevant

If total salary were the only thing that championships were based on, the Knicks would be a dynasty.

As far as facilitators go, Shump and Melo are doing their best, Bibby is a neutral time-killer while someone catches a breather, Toney needs to go back to PG school. Baron Davis would be the first REAL facilitator we’ve seen this year.

by superturboultra on Jan 18, 2012 8:57 AM EST up reply actions

Right, it is irrelvant but all we had...

Baron is 33 with a bad back. What if he comes back and barely averages 10 and 5? Then what? We spend a ton of $ on Chandler and Amare and we are waiting for a guy we picked up off the scrap heap. He had one great series 5 years ago….i’m just saying.

by Oakleytookmylunchmoney on Jan 18, 2012 11:01 AM EST up reply actions

saying that Baron was taken off the scrap heap

shows you have absolutely no understanding of what is going on in the NBA.

Educate me....

Someone could’ve bid $2 million on his contract, just like the Clippers did with Chauncey. But no one bid on him, at all.

by Oakleytookmylunchmoney on Jan 19, 2012 10:07 AM EST up reply actions

ill start by saying

i was a bit harsh there. I was in a bad mood, so sorry. i didnt mean to come out that angry.

BUT

The word on BD was he was gonna be otu for months. He is a player that is known for not playing hard when he is in a place he doesnt want to be and he made it known that he wanted to play for the knicks.

Not any team could bid on him… only teams under the cap. So its not like the heat could have grabbed him anymore then the knicks could have.

Burps is a guy known for playing hard no matter what. So it makes more sense for a team to take a chance on him coming around. Plus, he isnt injured.

i think the other problems are that

a) the casual schmuck doesn’t know good defense when he sees it
b) people love to hate on the Knicks, especially if they’re not winning!

so until the talking heads step in and say “hey, it’s actually the offense that’s the problem, their defense has been really solid,” alla these schmos are gonna keep parroting this trash about how there’s no D in D’Antoni.

by latrell chokewell on Jan 18, 2012 6:23 PM EST up reply actions

Yep

I’m cool with the defense. People are going to write it off because it’s a lockout season, but the Knicks are doing well with it and that’s how they’re winning games.

I'm as sick as anyone of the all the FIRE DANTONI threads already, but this needs more love.

Unless I’m totally reading it wrong it’s more light-hearted than actually trying to come down on him. I don’t know about you but I laughed. Some clever bits in there.

Here's the plot

D’antoni stars as a former partner in the law firm “Sarver, D’antoni & Nash”, which was known for its viciously effective prosecutions. After D’antoni is forced out of the firm by Sarver, he is hired by another firm in NY as a prosecutor, but it turns out he is actually terrible at it. Strangely, he is reborn as a defense attorney and has success at it, but has to keep fighting the misconception of his firm, judges, and the general public that he is all about prosecution and terrible at defense.

Wait, can Dolan be in the mob?

And anyone who tries to leave the Knicks gets murdered (explains Isiah), then D’Antoni goes to the Caymans and cheats on Jeanne Tripplehorn and blows up the money laundering scheme and finds a quaint new job with the Celtics

by GAx on Jan 18, 2012 10:52 AM EST up reply actions

what about the part

where the NY firm forces him to hire an assistant defense attorney that comes in and teaches him (and his legal team) how to become successful at it?

You just got Tysoned!!!!!!
