Watching the game yesterday, I saw a moment in pregame that to me highlights why Balkman gets no time.
Just before the game started, the players were taking the court. The cameras got a great shot of Nash and STAT saying high (with STAT rubbing the hair of the shaggy Nash). Nice moment. After they separated the camera showed Nash stop, look and point. He sat their pointing...
Then the camera switched to Mike D just as he was noticing Nash pointing at him. They started an exchage of hand signals. Smiles, laughs... good times.
Right in the middle of it, Balkman walks in front of Mike D and stops. Basically right on top of him. He extends his hand over mike D's head (coach was sitting) and waits for an assistant coach to give him a pound. He waits like 20 seconds... standing over his coach, who was in the middle of having a nice moment with his former MVP.
Its not a huge thing. But it kinda shows the lack of awareness Balkman has. It translates onto the court, when he just decides to barrel into a guy that is shooting a deep 3 fouling him in the process.
That moment stood out to me. Kinda a microcosm of him.
