Tyson and Josh VS. Tyson and Amare

The game against Sacramento said a lot about the Knicks and what they need to do going forward. The main focus is on Tyson Chandler and how he fits in.

In the game against the Kings, Chandler seemed happy and the offense was very fluid with Josh Harrellson and Carmelo Anthony starting in the front court. There's a reason for this. Tyson is a blue collar player and Harrellson is a finesse player. Harrellson gets his rebounds but he shoots three pointers and mid range jumpers and this gives Tyson the freedom in the paint. This is why he worked so well with Dirk in Dallas. Dirk was finesse and Tyson was blue collar. You look at the Lakers and the reason Bynum and Gasol can play together is because Bynum is blue collar and Gasol is finesse and they play well together.

This brings us to Amare Stoudemire. Amare is a blue collar player and he's used to being the center of power when he's on the court. This means Tyson and Amare crowd each other out and Tyson doesn't have the freedom in the paint like he has with Harrellson.

So Amare will have to pull back a little and add more finesse to his game and this will give Tyson freedom in the paint to block shots and rebound without being crowded by Amare. The Knicks are my sleeper pick to win the East. They will be very good if Amare realizes that Tyson is the center of power for the Knicks and when Shumpert and Davis are healthy.
