Baron still missing stamina, timing: "I couldn’t play dead right now in a movie, if I was asked to." Temper expectations accordingly.

Via Howard Beck

Baron practice today, though. It sounds like he's pretty rusty and when he does suit up, he'll start with just spot minutes. Anyway, I love this guy.

I think he's full of it

It’s been about 4 weeks to the day since the start of regular season and he’s starting practice, way ahead of his initial timetable…

I could be wrong, but I have a strong suspicion that the league office told him “Listen buddy, we’re not going to give you too hard a time about it, but for the sake of appearances, that fake injury of yours is going to take at least a month to heal. Ya dig?”

You can fake a surgery?

I guess its possible.

If the pats secure the ball, then the pats win, but if they fumble or let the ball get striped than the giants win. every game the giants play they always benefit from the other teams bonehead mistakes (fumbled or striped) not from thier skills. The giants are a dirty team, I can’t think of any othe team as dirty as the giants. They try to strip the ball as hard as they can because they know they can’t win a fair game." by EaglesNeedD on Jan 23, 2012 2:01 AM EST

from what I heard is that he looks good, looks like Baron Davis out there

but the stamina and chemistry shit is gonna be a problem, tho that’s to be expected. He hasn’t played since last year and has never played with these teammates.

Then again, could it really be any worse? Let him play about 20 minutes a game, but preferably most of the 4th Q.

oh. one thing i don't understand

dwight is on a very good team. they’re way closer than most squads to being at the top, #2 seed right now. He’s mad at the Front Office, no?
Why would he then go from bad front office to worse?

by mp987987 on Jan 23, 2012 3:11 PM EST up reply actions

If Dwight is unhappy because the Magic aren't winners, he can't just blame himself.

If the man could develop even one fairly consistent low post scoring move and hit his free throws, we’re talking dynasty.

Some of you doubt this, but isn’t it remarkable that a player with literally no offensive game whatsoever is consistently in the conversation for MVP each season? What if he developed even a shred of an offensive repertoire?

Dirt strong, son.

By the way, this sounds like I don't like Dwight.

Be not deceived… I would take him in a heart beat.

I’m just saying that if he could develop a back to the basket game he could own the league.

Dirt strong, son.

Yeah

and now that pau isn’t doing as well in the new offense, it might be easier to give up both.

McBob?

troy murphy? they’re actually okay ball players. but you’re right, the Lakers would need a couple other moves to make any sense at all. And they love bynum now

For my life I can't see how...

a supporting cast of Fisher, Bryant, Troy Murphy, Matt Barnes is more likely to win a championship than a cast of Turkoglu, Anderson, Nelson and Richardson.

If he’s going to LA I can’t see how he wouldnt be attracted to the Clippers. In fact its impossible for him not to be:
1)Great young winning team playing some real team ball with PG thats better than Deron
2)warm weather
3)big market
4)Market with no Addidas representation.
5)No Shaq imitation factor

OH MY LORD I would love that!

If I were a superstar, I’d go to the clips or OKC without a second thought if I’m going out west

Word

I’m just not too inclined to take seriously a single word out of Stephen A. Smith’s mouth.

by Seth on Jan 23, 2012 4:07 PM EST up reply actions

I don't take his rumors seriously,

but I really think the Knicks should take his recent rant seriously. He’s basically said everything they need to hear

more likely because of

Bryant…

You just got Tysoned!!!!!!

by Jason Bee on Jan 24, 2012 11:04 AM EST up reply actions

straight up like that wouldnt work

we would either have to take Hedo (which is the most likely scenario) or get them to include Nelson and Reddick while having to possibly throw in a 2 man mix of TD, Shumperdink, Walker and Balkman. but even there its a stretch, we’d probably have to cough up Grunwald. if only we could give up that Friday Night Band…

New Baron tweet;

Hooped for the 1st time in months. Knicks Training staff is great! They get the credit! Lots of work ahead! #blessed #happytobeaknick.

He’s definitely playing on Saturday. Read between the lines

You guys,

this is going to take longer than we thought. hopefully the eastern conference stays weak/unbalanced enough that sub-500 or dead-500 teams can slip in. (Unless bababooey’s Earthquake (Dwight to NY) goes through, then things could get better or worse, who knows.) But I think we may have signed a player to a 1-yr contract who may not be quite himself for roughly 1 year.
He can and is still welcome to blow us all away and lead us to the Atlantic title. But if we can be a disgrace and still make the playoffs, and then he comes alive, that’s all the same to me. Go Baron!

also, keep the damn ball away from carmelo anthony.

I think boom and Novak could be a good duo. Get that white boy in the game!

by mp987987 on Jan 23, 2012 3:22 PM EST up reply actions

well moderate how much Carmelo Anthony gets the ball

When he has the ball, good things can happen! But if he’s the one bringing it up the court…yeah…

by DonMoosavi on Jan 23, 2012 3:25 PM EST up reply actions

yeah, i exaggerated there

let him know that he won’t be getting 30/unlimited shots a game and he won’t take any for granted.
Let’s also hope boom has his shot so we can have another scoring option. We need versatile players out there to make our offense less predictable. Baron has no shot = “We know he’s going to pass”

by mp987987 on Jan 23, 2012 3:32 PM EST up reply actions

Stop looking at names to fix basketball problems

You could trade Amare for Dwight straight up and the Knicks still would not score points if Carmelo continues to think that being the number one option in the offense means that he does not have to play within the confines of the offense.

by Robert Curre on Jan 23, 2012 3:46 PM EST up reply actions

What?

that wasn’t the focus of my post at all. But yeah, you’re right

by mp987987 on Jan 23, 2012 3:48 PM EST up reply actions

Boy Amare sure sounds like a prisoner

who just got told by the Warden that his parole came through and he will be released in a week.
