4th isos not Melos fault yay
I could be naive but unlike some of my esteemed colleagues here I believe so melodrama would have helped tremendously

Fun fact:
the knicks made more 3pt field goals than 2 point field goals tonight

you're both right. Too bad Baron can't play 48 minutes and that he's our only hope for quality PG play
But even if he just comes in for the 4th q
Cause TD was HORRIBLE in the 4th and when Melo gets back he just sucks the life out of the O in the 4th.
So yeah Baron in the 4th couldn’t be worse.

Well, the effort was downright valiant
But the Knicks are really a pretty terrible basketball team and had no business being in this game in the first place. Oh well. Bring on… the Rockets?

the record number of three's shows this team lacks of playmaking abilities.
but still good job on them from staying in this game.. if only we have an inside game.
shoulda just taken every shot from 3.
Why get two when you get get more, YA KNOW???
:(
they were actually hitting 3's
but to be fair, they did take more 3’s than 2’s
2012 New York Mets, World Series Champions!
Moral victories are cute
if our dudes could have passed the ball with a little more zip, I think this game could have been ours. Oh well.

bill walker from threeeeeee
if you just ignore those 6 to’s

18/43 from 3. 12/41 from 2. 19 TO's.

It's tough being a Knicks fan. Being a Giants and Yanks fan is great though.

19 - 10 to's those killed us tonight
i think those three’s were necessary to open the inside game for amare but it doesnt happen because he cant get the ball the inside.. we need melo to do that for us. or biddy

when did anyone ever say they did?
doesn’t the hivemind know that his problems are caused by lack of point guard?
Well
so far it hasn’t been viable. Is it crazy to think that it might never be?

That's ridiculous
they’re not solely attributable to him, but he’s played a role in Amare being so far off his game.
He didn't look explosive at all tonight
And frankly, Melo seems to be the only guy right now who can get the ball inside to players in the paint most consistently
maybe he got bored of playing at an MVP level because it came to easy for him
just like Metta World Peace got bored of playing defense
2012 New York Mets, World Series Champions!
my sarcasm to dry?
I am frustrated with the outcomes, but by no means blaming STAT or Melo or Tyson – who I wish would be more involved in the offense, if only to draw fouls
2012 New York Mets, World Series Champions!
but anyway, I thought Amar'e played well
the Heat were keying on him a bit, no? And Joel Anthony is the best defender of PF’s in the league, right?
Everytime he touched the ball they were looking to draw a charge
In the second half he picked up on it and played a bit smarted. He also started hitting his jumpers
wait? So you mean you think it's not all Carmelo Anthony's fault
I’m pretty sure him watching the game from the bench with his ring bling was the definitive cause of every single one of our turnovers.

The only thing Melo has to do with Amare is
Melo took away a very solid supporting cast from Amare And a team with very strong potential when he came here. I blame Dolan for that. Dolan is clearly a man who does not understand basketball or team. Now Amare is going to get traded in hopes of fixing the problem of how to get Melo to be more productive when clearly this never would have been a problem if we just never traded for him. And they are going to bring in Phil Jackson and we will go back to iso play and cramming it down low which god damn it, was boring 3 years before we traded Ewing.
MDA brought an exciting brand of basketball and for all those who say he never won a championship well, FU because he’s done 10000 times better than any James Lorraine Dolan team.

Don't worry, here's some hope . . .
The 40 3-point attempts by the New York Knicks is the most the Heat have allowed in franchise history.
Now doesn’t that make everyone feel better? We sat a damn record tonight so be happy damn it!

If LBJ can learn a post game mid-career
Seems like Amar’e should be able to do the same. He’s got touch and he’s fast and can jump; he should be able to add a jump hook and a fadeaway. RIght?
There's something about Amar'e's body type and stature that makes posting up a mismatch for him
It’s like as unnatural as it is for Dwight Howard, except Dwight Howard is stronger and bigger so he can get away with it.
lol
but doesn’t mchale? I guess he had long arms too tho.

might be something to that
you would think yo spend the most time working on your legs though
2012 New York Mets, World Series Champions!
Eh
Does Dirk have thicker legs? Bosh has a fine back-to-the-basket game too and his legs are comparable to Amar’e’s. It’s something else. I dunno
Bosh supposed bulked up his legs this past summer
2012 New York Mets, World Series Champions!
this past summer
except he put up how many points per game a few seasons ago?
playing meaningless games on a meaningless team
2012 New York Mets, World Series Champions!
it could be his handles
which are garbage. I picture him dribbling the ball off his foot in the post
its his whole lower body. his waste is like Kate moss. Have you ever seen a picture of amare in tight clothing?
Being a low post player is about pushing against your defender with your lower half.
It seemed like he was getting triple teamed every time he touched the ball in the paint
I do not think he is to blame for the loss. He took 14 shots, made 5 and at least two misses that I remember were an attempted half court buzzer beater to end the first half and a desperation fling as the clock expired. I thought he played decently, Not his greatest game, but he didn]t kill the team. This game might have been won with some decent PG play. At least there was good ball movement for most of the game.
It does seem like in D’Antoni’s system you don’t even need Melo present for Melo-Time at the end of the game. What’s that about anyway?
Dump Melo
If that doesn't work dump Pringles
I fear they may both end up doing the get injured, then rest . . .
But not long enough so they get re-injured again, then they rest, but it wasn’t enough, and they get re-injured again. I know pessimistic, but hey, I am a Knicks fan ok?
by TheKnicksAreBack on Jan 27, 2012 11:10 PM EST reply actions
So THAT'S what interior defense looks like!
The reason we took so many threes was simple: the Heat’s interior defense was insane. INSANE. Joel Anthony’s 5 blocks were a testament to that. But their whole team protected the paint like it was their sole reason for being. That was one of the best rim-guarding performances I’ve ever seen that didn’t involve a dominant defensive center. Even when they gave us a lane, it wasn’t quiiiiiiiite good enough to get the driver into lay-up range. They put on a clinic.
And with no real playmakers on the team, and no elite dribble-drive PG, what does that leave as the only option? The perimiter shot.
For the record, the majority of our 3 point attempts were actually pretty good looks. And of the bad looks, most of them came with 2 seconds left on the shot clock.
Don’t blame the 3-ball for our loss; blame our inability to penetrate or work the ball inside.

I don't know a ton
About Baron’s game….how does he get his points? Does he go to the rim on occasions besides dunking on Kirilenko?
by bmathislilley on Jan 27, 2012 11:13 PM EST up reply actions
He takes shots***
Fixed it for you =D
Back when he still cared about basketball (AKA when he wasn’t a Cav or a Clipper), he was great at getting himself open. He was a thick-bodied point guard who could tuck his head down and drive the lane, and he could also shoot. But he also had a tendancy to call his own number; he took a ton of 3s despite never hitting them at a particularly good rate. Which might have had something to do with the fact that he took so many of them…
He WAS a great penetrator, though. So that’s nice.
by nocookiesforme on Jan 27, 2012 11:27 PM EST up reply actions
well..I guess part of my answer was based on expectation
I really doubt that Baron is going to try to do his hero ball game here in New York when we have this other player that likes to do that. Also, watching him last season, I noticed that he was really playing a team-first brand of basketball and I never really noted his shot selection as being debatable or notably below average.
Now, what I’m saying won’t be reflected in good shooting numbers for Baron this season with the Knicks because he’s going to be tired and maybe out of shape, but it won’t be because of his shot selection..I’m fairly confident about that.
Fair point
I was thinking back to his last few years with the Warriors and his first few with the Clips; I kinda forgot about the first half of last season when having Blake Griffin to lob to kinda revitalized him. And I should give him more credit, he’s going to be great at the PnR with Amare. Not sure what the hell he’s gonna do while Melo Isos, though. Guess it’ll be fun to find out, haha.
by nocookiesforme on Jan 27, 2012 11:36 PM EST up reply actions
Hoping for more PnR's with Chandler also and he can (hopefully) keep the ball moving
He should be able to get Melo open shots and the ball when ISO’s are called later in the clock
Jared Jeffries Shot Tracker
Jeffries was 0-3 tonight, including 0-2 from 3 point range for 0 points.
Fun Fact: The Knicks have now lost 10 consecutive games in which Jeffries is 0-3 or worse from the field.

I think Amar'e has been playing well lately
He’s just gotten off to some slow starts and had a tough draw tonight. His success tomorrow will be based on how much Dalembert guards him though. If Dalembert guards him, he’s going to have to hit the jumpshot as well as he did late in tonight’s game. If Scola guards him, he’s going to rip Houston a new asshole.
Here's our problem, it's the same as Metta World Peace
World Peace blames boredom for lapses, Kobe buys it
“I got bored with defense because it was so easy for me to stop people over the years,”
I think we have the opposite, our guys are just bored because it was too easy for them to score.
Seriously, I can’t believe that Knucklehead said that. Here’s the link:

when you hit more 3's than 2's
and half of those 2’s are layups or dunks= TROUBLE
