I tried to be patient...but im freaking out

These first few weeks have been absolute torture for our long suffering fan base. Initially, I kept my composure like most of you did. But as time progressed, my tolerance for the incompetence, ineptitude, and overall bullshit performances has diminished. Luckily, there is a light on the end of the tunnel. All it takes is a few simple solutions, none of which involve all of the meandering, pie in the sky trade scenarios. We have the right players, they just don't play right. After the the jump, im going to break down the necessary steps to getting the knicks back into contention.

Star-divide

1) The defense is good but In order to maximize Chandler's gifts,we must switch to zone defense. The man/switch thing is good in spurts but it leaves us way to vulnerable in the paint, plus we end up with bad mismatches too often. Considering his history of foot injuries,it probably inst wise to keep him in a scheme where he's constantly maximizing the stress he puts on it either

2)Give stat the ball where he can dominate. He doesn't have the handle to consistently drive to the rim from the wing and his 3 point shot experiment has blown up in his face this season. Feed him the rock in the left post or left baseline and great things will happen.Unfortunately, melo's comfort zone is in stats' area,so is chandlers. I can understand melo crowding the area, but chandler doesn't get paid for offense he's paid for rebounds so maybe he should spend more time on the right post/baseline and concede that area to stat.

3)Once Baron Davis is healthy and at full steam we should start going into overdrive.I don't expect him to be the messiah, but im hoping hes not the second coming of marbury. If he consistently gets chandler and especially stat the ball where they like it(no homo) then mission accomplished.

Blow it up.

This team is too lazy even for zone D, 2 players that have nearly identical offensive games except in different positions that REFUSE to co-exist, and we’re resting the team’s success on the back of a guy that has a herniated disk. Sound about right? Blow it up. I don’t even care if they turn it around anymore.

I’m so removed from caring at this point (what with the MSG/ TW fiasco and the losing) that I kinda want them to fail just so we can keep our top 5 protected pick. Who am I kidding, they’d probably trade it anyway. Sigh.

Knicks I’ll always <3 you, but I think we need some time apart.

i hear ya bro

but i respectfully disagree with a few things:
melo sweet spot is left perimeter/baseline(but he’s good all over the court)…plus he can drive from perimeter because of his ability to handle the rock a little better. stat sweet spot is left baseline/left post and an excellent on pick and roll.plus he’s a decent shot from 20 feet out.melo should alter his game to suit stat otherwise they are gonna have some issues

forget Melo's sweet spot- there's too much Me in Melo

it’s the soft spot in his head that is screwing us up. Maybe he is doing some soul searching and evaluation while he rests. Hope so. Otherwise he will continue to play flawed hero-iso/melo mode. That’s got to change if we are to have any chance.

Dump Melo
If that doesn't work dump Pringles

my TO DO list...

1) Make a trade… there are too many signs that Melo and Stat diminish each others effectiveness. The trade must bring in more complimentary players, even if they’re not as “talented”.

2) Contract Dr. Frankenstein to build a coach capable of implementing and enforcing offensive and defensive schemes that maximize our talents… because one does NOT currently breath air on planet earth (not even the ZenMaster would want any of this)

I am curled up in the fetal position, sucking my thumb . . .

And trying to forget that this season has ever happened. Give it a try Knick fans, it can’t hurt. I am pretty sure that is what Dantoni does during games, practices, and time outs.

If it is good enough for the Moustached Offensive Genius, then it is good enough for us!

Get off the internets, go outside, hang with friends and family, whatever you need to do to get your mind off of it for a little

says who?

and we’d most likely have to take back elton brand… though if elton came with a thad or an evan, or even a lou, i’d consider it.

First of all,

I think the defense is OK. Not that it couldn’t improve, but it hasn’t been awful.

Second of all, I really think that their problems can be traced back to the fact that not only have they been playing without a starting caliber point guard – they’ve been playing without a backup-caliber point guard.

A point guard keeps his team focused on the court. He decides how the team is going to attack the defense when they go down the court. He looks to set guys up for shots, looks to keep them involved, with their morale and confidence up. He keeps them from getting too high or too low.

In the end of a close game, he keeps the team from panicing, and does what he can to get the best possible shot up against a defense that is focused and aggressive. That means working the defense, getting them to bite, and having some strategy to deliver the ball to a teammate in a position in which they can score easily.

THE KNICKS DON’T HAVE THIS.

Even Chris Duhon can do this sort of thing. Most teams have not one, but two guys that do this job. With the possible exception of Jeremy Lin (and it’s probably wishful thinking on my part) the Knicks have NO ONE THAT CAN PERFORM THIS FUNCTION. And with the exception of Melo, none of their scorers can be particularly effective. That’s why they can’t score and that’s why they’re losing.

i totally agree...

though i wonder if melo is wired to even let this happen. i’d love to read billups mind and hear what his real thoughts are about melo and how he plays with others.

aside from Melo

who can even create their own shot on a regular basis
