Massive Week coming up
4 games this week.
Detroit @ NY
Chicago @ NY
NY @ Boston
New Jersey @ NY
I personally feel that this could be one of the biggests weeks of the season, we need to go at least 3-1in my eyes, otherwise Dolan will interfere (rightly or wrongly) and trade either Amar'e or Melo, or fire D'Antoni.
Even the way we are playing right now we should be able to pick off Detroit and the Nets at home (if we dont then I may join in with the Trade demands/fire the coach etc), Celtics are slowly getting theirselves together, and frankly i think Chicago will destroy us.
So Fasten your seatbelts boys and girls, I can see this ride getting even bumpier in the near future

At this point, I think we should just tank for the first pick.
Anthony Davis's unibrow is just what this team needs

i also vote for an 0-4 week... this team is lame and filled with idiots.
amare say it himself, no one is preparing or reading the board or following the game plan. we’re just a compilation of basketball dummies.
I, for one...
am extremely tired of your negativity.

totally understandable...
it’s how i cope with our profound suckiness… and if there were actual on the court reasons to feel positive or hopeful, i’d totally change the tone of my posts. unfortunately, this is not the case.
i will say this though… i love jorts. i love shump. i love tyson. i’ve been pleasantly surprised by jerom jordans agility and length and ability to score… and if we can find a way to get some value for either melo or stat in a trade, i genuinely think we can be a powerhouse.
otherwise, sorry man, we all cope differently.

Fair enough
I can get on board with that. I love that you showed your love for those lovely players! I’m not saying everybody needs to say the Knicks are great and what not, because they’re not… at all. But I think we should try to remain positive and optimistic about this team. Hell, who knows what will happen if we have Baron healthy and Melo healthy. Maybe we’ll turn it around, at least I’m hoping we do. By the way, I love Bill Walker.
I honestly think
that if they started Lin and played him 35 minutes, including down the stretch, they’d win 2 of these games.

For what it's worth
Lin has 10.3 assists per 36 minutes. Bibby has 4.2, TD has 4.0, Iman has 3.8.

Well...
I don’t think Lin is going to solve our problems at all. But, I will say that he really wouldn’t be a downgrade at point guard compared to Shump, TD and Bibby. Especially Bibby. He’s a better passer than all of them. I think that he should start getting some consistent minutes and see what he can do.
Quoting per 36 stats is absurd
in the context of a player who has played only 42 minutes.
lol

agree about the SSS
still think Lin deserves more time at point until he proves he is worse there than the others have been

Did you guys watch Lin?
He’s terrible. The only thing he could do well was get into the lane, but that was because no defender in their right mind would leave their man to help on Lin. All of his shots were altered by one, non-big defender. You let a guy like that try to beat you, because 19 out of 20 times, he cant.

that works for me. It was a sight for sore eyes.

theyre rolling out the red carpet for him
so that can swat his weak ass shot or pick off his telegraphed kick-out. Its in the pudding

We've played 20 games
And though the Knicks have won 7 of those, I would say that Toney Douglas hasn’t won any of them.
At the point guard position, we need someone who, when the pressure is up and the game is on the line, will try to set someone else up to score. What we have running the offense is guys who, when the chips are down, try to score themselves or dump it off to someone else to have them try to score themselves.
I don’t really care about Lin’s shots being altered or no one helping on him. I care about his assists. Because that’s what we need.

Lin is a scrub.
and if he cannot finish as Mr. Brown said eventually teams will not be as aggressive to commit defenders his way and his assists will dry up. Lin is a career D-leaguer. Face it people we have reached bottom we have finally spun the final scrub on the bench and he turned out to be pretty much a scrub!!!!

he got into the lane, with a step on his man
then some defender came to help, and he kicked it out to his man. When the defender didn’t come, he got to the basket with mixed success, but drew a couple of fouls. That is all I want right now, someone to create open shots for his teammates. We have taken and missed a lot of open shots, but doing what Lin do can only be a good thing if it leads to more open shots, especially if they’re a little closer to the hoop. He looked a little shaky early on, but better when left out there after awhile. He is going to make mistakes because he has played so little, especially w Amare & co, that he is practically a rookie. He is not a savior, but he may be our best option at PG until Boom comes back, and his best backup after that – we will never know until he gets some continued playing time out there. He had 6 dimes in 20 minutes to lead the team, that is why he is worth more and longer looks.

I'd like to see the kid, at least once...
get enough time to exhaust the jitters to see what’s beneath. As pointed out, what do we have to lose, we’re already losing. He’s shown handle and hustle and penetration and quick laterals.
by bucketsncents on Jan 30, 2012 2:40 PM EST up reply actions
He played the last 20 minutes of the game against Houston and was jittery throughout
If D’Antoni plays him 48 mins against Detroit we know he has given up!

We can't worry about the kids possible inability to finish...
while at the same time, state that TD is a better option. TD gets his shot blocked more than anyone I know. It would be irresponsible to give an unknown a shot at this point… because our knowns aren’t getting it done.

I assume you are saying it would be irresponsible NOT to give an unknown a shot.

deep brah... mad deep
i’m totally NOT saying not to play the unknown because our knowns are not not only sucking, but they’re also not not being uninspiring.

I would like to see what he does down the stretch of a close game.
Can he run a pick and roll, penetrate and dish with some purpose, and do something other than dump the ball off or shoot an out of rhythm jumper? Can he have some balls? The quality of shots they got down the stretch of the Miami game was just awful, and Toney was a big part of that. I was yelling at the screen.
The thing about Lin is that he likes to dish. Toney is willing to give up the ball, has no idea how, and fundamentally likes to score. Shumpert likes to be aggressive and penetrate, but he doesn’t know how to do it with a eye toward setting up his teammates. Melo can throw a nice pass, but again, it’s not what he loves to do. He loves to score and that’s what he’s most confident in. If Lin likes to pass and he has some idea of how to do it, then they should let him do it.

BYE BYE D"ANTONI!
YOU"RRRREEEEE OUTTTTTAAAAAHEEEEEEEEREEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
Not gonna happen....
Weren’t you the one saying that we need some consistency about an hour or 2 ago? Or do you just think it’s a forgone conclusion that you don’t condone?
I’m gonna make the startling prediction the Mike D is coaching through the end of the season.
Mike is going- liberated really
Dolan needs a fall guy and Mike is it. Dolan ignored the advice of everyone and went forward with that terrible trade. He raised the ticket prices, making a ton of money along the way, and now pins the failure on Mike. No one can salvage this team as constituted. They will be lucky to make the playoffs, and have no chance to survive the first round.
I really don't think it is that big
especially if we don’t have a fully healthy roster for the whole week. At the very least, 8th place will be up for grabs the rest of the season. Though that is well below expectations, it is fine so long as we got our shit together by then. You still have to beat the elite in the playoffs, no matter what your rank. If you want to give up after another week of struggling, go right ahead, but you will be back by the end of the season and the playoffs.

no new coach will help this team this year
the schedule is too shortened and the team, the full team, which hopefully includes Boom every game after he comes back, has yet to play a game together, so no coach would even be able to come up with a new strategy until watching everyone

Still waiting til March...still waiting til March...still waiting til March...still waiting til March
I almost want Dantoni fired, just like I wanted Nuggets fans to keep talking shit about the players we offered last year, just to see how people act when they realize they were wrong and that in this case the grass isn’t greener. I might be wrong, but how many coaches get mad at a player who takes a good open shot? How many times will the new coach piss you off because he didn’t call a timeout when you wanted him to?
I’ve been asking this since last year, but for all the people calling for Dantoni to be fired, who would you want as a replacement? It’s as easy to say “Fire the coach!”, but god help you if Mike Woodson is the man you want to solve this puzzle. God help us all.
I dream of Eddy Curry feeding me fish sticks.

right! Everyone loves to point out a problem but rarely do they ever offer an actual solution!
It’s mostly just “well this isn’t working so fix it.” Great…. HOW?!

What coaches out there are actually desirable?
People raved about Flip Saunders… but he really hasn’t been so impressive for the last couple teams he has managed. Phil Jackson is staying retired. People will always ask about Jeff Van Gundy but he’s done too. Paul Westphal? Pass. Mike Fratello? Pass. Patrick Ewing? Kareem Abdul Jabbar? Neither is ready to actually run a team.
Seriously… there isn’t much of a coaches pool to pick from right now. And this being New York, it ain’t gonna satisfy this crowd to bring in an unknown.

The only coach that was kind of available that I'd have been okay with as an alternative was Adelman, and that probably would have been a lateral move.
Seriously guys. If Phil Jackson isn’t coming(he’s not), what are you guys so excited to fire Dantoni for? I kind of wonder how Mike Malone would be as well, but unless I’m missing some surefire candidate, educate me guys. Who should we be firing Dantoni for?
