Yes but let me see 10 more games

I would jump on this any other game but he only had 10 points and I cant remember him shooting that well? Correct me if I’m wrong though.

by HalfTaino on Jan 6, 2012 9:35 PM EST up reply actions

He missed some open jumpers, but those will fall

More importantly, he looked like he’d been running the point with STAT and Melo for years.

by Joamiq on Jan 6, 2012 9:36 PM EST up reply actions

Who cares?

7 assists, 5 steals, and just watching they were much more cohesive and energetic on both ends of the floor. He was the only one who even managed to contain or stop Wall.

Hey you are forget something.

3 rebs and a block. Man had a great game. I think he would have had 10-12 assist if tyson dunked the ball when he got fouled.

Encouraging performance after the first quarter

The Wizards played basically as we as they possibly could have and there is not question they have some talent. Melo was awesome, Shump was awesome, Chandler did Chandler things, Stat seems to be rounding in to some form and Bibby was on fire.

Feels good man.

Hopefully Melo’s injury isn’t serious. Great games by our big three along with Bibby and Shumpert. Everyone else was trash (except maybe Jorts, he got some boards and nice D). Very inconsistent out there. Side note: Washington is basically Sacramento East, good young talent that can’t play fundamental basketball.

Btw Shumpert should be starting next game. Douglas and Fields were absolute garbage out there and Shumpert has yet to have a bad game. I love how you can tell that he was told to try to be a playmaker and he did an amazing job at that. His % was kinda bad but I only saw like 1 or 2 shots that had me scratching my head. He could start over either TD/Landry but I’d put him at point with Landry. Btw I think the reason Bibby had such a good game was because he played alongside Shumpty who was getting him open jumpers all 2nd half.

Only his shooting. But have you watched him run that team?

He has completely changed their identity. They used to be slow and plodding. Now they push the tempo and play at a very high pace. He’s helped turn Wallace into a major transition threat, and he’s finding Wallace and Crawford on cuts in halfcourt sets as well as running the PnR well (what else is new) with the likes of Aldridge and Thomas. I would not be surprised at all if he led them to the Finals this year.

by Joamiq on Jan 6, 2012 11:15 PM EST up reply actions

I love Felton

And yeah, his shooting is bad, but he just needs to pick his spots and figure out when to shoot. His playmaking has been wonderful though. If that team adds another center off the bench, I think they’re title contenders

I don't think anyone's saying the knicks wouldn't have been as good as they were in tbe playoffs without melo.

What the real question is for this year, especially in hindsight with the shortened season, would we have been better to only add Tyson to that Felton led group then trade them ALL for one player, not matter how good he is.

While I’m cool with Melo, I don’t understate the fact that we still need good pieces and we don’t have any draft picks to do it with (i know we have one next year, but not the year after)

by Kylero on Jan 7, 2012 2:02 AM EST up reply actions

First of all, shut up, this is a stupid stupid argument and a pointless one

I don’t understand how so many fans can’t appreciate having one of the best players in the game on their team.

Second, I doubt we would have been able to afford both chandlers and even if we could it doesn’t matter because Tyson doesn’t come here without melo. Tyson has a higher offer on the table from GS. He took less to come to New York because the spotlight and because we’re contenders now. The old team was a .500 team.

Third, Wilson is still stuck in Chine

Fourth, Mozzie sucks. Jerome Jordan is better.

Fifth and perhaps most importantly, with the fewer games per week schedule, that team was run down before the all star break. The offense didn’t work without Amar’e and Felton on the floor and there was zero defense. Both Amar’e and Felton were running out of steam from having to play absurd minutes to win every week.

Sixth, Melo has put this team on his back so far this season. He’s one of the few out there who’s even playing and doing so at a much higher level. Switch him out for Felton, Gallinari and Mozzie (not even addressing my earlier point about Tyson not coming to the team) and we don’t even win the games we’ve won.

Do the Shumpty Shump, come on and do the Shumpty Shump

by DangerZone on Jan 7, 2012 7:16 AM EST up reply actions

Yo, stop telling people who don't 100% unconditionally love Melo to "shut up"

Not only is it an entirely valid point of view even if you don’t share it, and not only is your own little diatribe riddled with logical holes, but most importantly you were not even posting and toasting before your boy Melo showed up, so you have no right to tell other people on this site what they’re entitled to think of former Knicks players. In fact, it’s incredibly fucking obnoxious.

by flossy on Jan 7, 2012 8:54 AM EST up reply actions   1 recs

dude you make a whole lot of sense to me.

and I mean a lotta lotta lotta lotta lotta lotta sense. I think you make so much sense that it’s at a point now where you can stop making sense and the sense you made previously will learn to procreate and continue making sense on their own, becoming totally self sufficient.*

But you can’t tell people to shut it…even if they deserve it or are making too much noise in the back of your trunk. It’s kinda rude and we don’t want this turning into the comments section of the New York Post.

*lots of sense made except the Mozgov/Jordan thing. Neither are terrific and we haven’t seen enough of Jordan to brag to anyone about him yet.

by Lord Smackington on Jan 7, 2012 3:03 PM EST up reply actions

I don't buy it

He averaged 38 mpg with the Knicks. He’d twice hit 37+ mpg previously and had played at least 79 games in each of those seasons. At the time of the trade, the team obviously was not playing as well as it had during the big run, but it’s not at all clear to me that it was going to be all downhill from there. Nothing I saw suggested that they were incapable of regaining their form. Besides, he played just as well in Denver as he did in NY, so I don’t buy that he was running out of steam halfway through the season with the Knicks.

by Joamiq on Jan 6, 2012 11:21 PM EST up reply actions

they didn’t overachieve, they were always talented Denver just shit on them publicly so they can keep grabbing more and more out of the deal. Smart of those scum bags, but fuck em, whats done is done.

I think that we just need a scoring boost off the bench

i think that is has to be either landry or td, based of whomever gets benched. I’m very surprised that we didn’t give kirilenko a look but thats either here nor there lol.

STAT and Melo all day damnit!

by Fabfreebird on Jan 6, 2012 10:11 PM EST up reply actions

I think TD can be that scorer off the bench

Yea if you say Scorer off the bench

and let me choose TD or Landry

It’s not even close. TD all day. Let him be the star of the 2nd unit.

I think the role he played last year is perfect for him

not star

but he can hustle some of the worse PGs defensively and make a few open shots offensively

by mindfeck on Jan 6, 2012 10:26 PM EST up reply actions

"star"

is relative when we are talking about when he is out there with only bench bro’s. Who would be the “star” of our bench if not him? Walker, Jeffries, Bibby (did play semi-decent tonight, shot well anyway), Jorts, Jordan….?? TD should be the man out of that group, is all I’m saying.

by jlaw on Jan 7, 2012 12:15 AM EST up reply actions

yea Stat and Melo

but even if dudes average 30 a game that’s just 60pts. You need other shit.

no, I am not pining over that trade.

I think we got more than value back with melo. But it will be great to add gallo to chandler, melo, stat and shump.

by cynickfan on Jan 6, 2012 10:07 PM EST up reply actions

yeah i definitely agree with that

This is the sentiment I wish everyone was promoting. You can recognize we’re better now and still love those players and want them back.

Iman led the team with a +20 point differential tonight...

even though we only won by 3. That’s pretty impressive.

also, the wizards shot better %'s than us tonight

but we pretty much dominated every other basic category on the box score, from rebounding to fouls to steals. they did block a shit ton more shots than us though.

Rubio's playing a little out of control

Kind of like Shumpert at times. It’s the kind of thing you have to deal with when you have a young PG, but it’s a good sign they’re creative and have good court vision. Over 2-3 years the mistakes usually diminish and teammates get used to where the ball will be.

by mindfeck on Jan 6, 2012 10:24 PM EST reply actions

We need to play a little better.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Knicks play a game without Melo

He’s a bit too much of a crutch for them right now, I think.

Shump Shump

He needs to start. Whether its at sg or pg he needs to start. PErsonally I think it should be pg, I think his penetration could open up fields game and give him more open shots that douglas could not give

by jsk793 on Jan 6, 2012 11:08 PM EST reply actions

7 assists today? Yes please

I think he definitely has the vision and discipline to be a PG. I was really impressed in particular with a possession today where he was left open at the perimeter for a clear 3 point shot, but he recognized that his shot was off and instead passed it to Chandler hanging in the paint for the easy points. I don’t think TD does that.

by SweatbandProliferation on Jan 6, 2012 11:29 PM EST up reply actions

Being that Toney Douglas should never play point guard again under any circumstances,

Yes, they should start Shump at PG.

Knicks point guards in order of effectiveness:

1. Baron Davis (probably)
2. Shump
3. Bibby
4. Lin
5. Balkman
6. Tyson Chandler
7. The ballboy
8. Spike Lee
9. Toney Douglas

Really, we gotta get Toney off the ball. He’s killing us and himself.

A few thing

1. John Wall is seriously fun to watch
2. TD should be coming off the bench. Is there anyone who disputes that?
3. Tina gave me several groin injuries tonight.

Could Shump be a viable ROY candidate?

Besides Irving, Cole, and Jimmer (haha jk), who else is in the race?

but don’t think he’s starting. He might get edged out later on by someone who is.

I like Shump over Rubio and add Marshon Brooks to the list

and if he develops Markieff Morris could enter the conversation

by screamedia on Jan 7, 2012 1:19 AM EST up reply actions

Ok, we won, BUT, with Landry Fields and Toney Douglas in the line up we are a TOTAL DISASTER. When 1 of them is on the floor we suck, when they both sit on the bench we WON. They are NOT NY players. Simple as that. Period.

by Martian78 on Jan 7, 2012 12:19 AM EST reply actions

lol

“Not NY players”. Does that even mean anything?

Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows

by Rorschach44 on Jan 7, 2012 7:28 AM EST up reply actions

C’mon guys, its so obvious, and its not just me saying that. Have you watched the game? Or previous ones? They simply dont deliver, with both of them on the floor there is no ball movement, they dont attack the rim nor shoot from distance, all they do is receive the ball and give it away to Melo or Stat. With Shump and Bibby on the floor we didnt see that, and as much as Bibby sucks he still have the guts to shoot some balls, Landry doesnt. And if u think they play better than Shump ok, but i say(and im not the only one) that Shump deserves a place in the starting line up more than Landry or TD. And i agree 100% of what Seth wrote about them in the previous posts. So if my opinion doestn mean anything, i think Seth’s does ;).

Well done

Your post worked. Sadly it looks like TD is headed to the bottom of the rotation which seems well earned.

New signature coming soon.
