"Once I get my rhythm, I'll be fine," Douglas said. "Nothing changes for me. Just go out there and play and do what Toney is capable of doing."

Many thanks to Anthony Rieber of Newsday for recording this gem, and many more thanks to our own fuhry for finding it. This alone gives me faith that Toney will get his game back.

Seriously!

Someone punch TD in the mouth, especially for the 3rd person reference. Everyone else has their rhythm — its not like TD is a rookie.

A slump knocks people out of their rhythm too...

doesn’t mean he was referring to the shortened camp/season at all. And even if he was, he certainly was a “rookie” at running the point.

I volunteer you to do the punching erniesto!

You got us twisted here homie, around here you gotta put your own work in, or be quiet about it. Punch Toney Douglas in the Mouth. Please!

Yeah

Its a good thing nobody here is in charge of the team, or Toney would already be on the unemployment line

I would love to hear what Toney's inner monologues sound like

Eh...

This sounds like a guy in denial, not a guy who’s actually trying to improve. He does, in fact, have to change some things in order to DWTD is capable of D’ing.

DWTICOD?

Thanks for making us a contender, Donnie.

TICOD

Every time Toney does something good on the court, yell “TICOD!”

Seriously, isn’t the point of building a great team to put a situation together where everyone can do what they do without having to do too much of what they don’t do?

Toney’s maladaption to the point guard position is kind of like the same thing as how the wisest people don’t always make the best war generals.

Keep bein’ Toney, Toney. TICOD!

Good point
put a situation together where everyone can do what they do without having to do too much of what they don’t do?

The chances are much higher that he reverts to last year’s form off the bench. That situation will match up with his abilities much more favorably. Starting Shump makes us a better team and increases the likelihood we see DWTDD DWTDDing once again and we stop losing to these cupcake teams that we should be stomping.

New signature coming soon.

I also think that Toney's D will look better

if he’s not guarding the primary ball handler all the time and he can be a bit more of a free agent and work on denying his man the ball.

I find it disconcerting that Toney seems to be going from DWTDD to DWTICOD.

By mid-season if it’s downgraded again to DWTThinksHeCanDoMaybeIDK I’ll be worried.

Fish Fingers give me a break.

Off topic but

For everybody that has Time Warner, do you guys have NBA TV on the channel that used to be MSG? I saw a commercial on NBA TV today advertising Knicks vs. Bobcats tonight at 7, can anyone confirm whether I’ll finally be able to watch my Knicks? Or is it going to be blacked out in the NYC area?

Can't confirm

but it’ll likely be blacked out. I would make other plans, if I were you.

Keep Your Chin Up, TD!

Glad to see he’s no longer starting at PG. TD’s no good at setting rhythm. After a couple games, the Knicks starting lineup will get a rhythm going, and TD will slip right into that.

by sisterray24 on Jan 9, 2012 4:29 PM EST reply actions

Do what you do, Toney D.

But remember to ALWAYS remember your weaknesses and to have the courage to put in the work and improve your game.

Did this dude just did this?

The less TD plays the better. He's the reason for many of these losses.

He doesn’t move the ball around and takes some seriously low percentage shots. Lin could do a better job of facilitating this offense!

by BBallisLife on Jan 9, 2012 5:40 PM EST reply actions

This is a lie.

It’s a very irresponsible opinion. TD is not the reason the Knicks lost those games. Lin could not run shit because if he could, then he’d be doing it elsewhere instead of getting signed by the Knicks and still not running shit.

The real reason the Knicks lost those games is because the Knicks were playing like garbage. Every one of them, not just the TD. Shame on you.

Did this dude just did this?

by Rubbercons on Jan 9, 2012 5:45 PM EST up reply actions

Agreed

TD played like shit. But so did Stoudemire and Fields. And Chandler wasn’t doing much either. Melo scored extraordinarily well, but not terribly efficiently and had little else going on. The bench didn’t provide one iota of help, statwise or energywise.

There’s more than enough blame to go around for those losses.

It’s certainly a good thing to see TD replaced at starting PG, and the team’s starting to come together (though it’s still too early to say whether that’ll stick). But it’s absolutely mistaken to think that the less TD plays the better. TD will find his rhythm again, most likely at the backup 2. And he’ll be an important contributor once he does.

guy's just not a point guard, plain and simple

whether he will be in the future, i mean, from what we’ve seen there isn’t much reason for optimism. I think we can all agree its not his ideal role. But I mean come on guys, “borderline nba player. nothing more”? “the less toney plays the better”?
