In the halfcourt offense, he is arguably the best scorer in the league. He can score from anywhere and on anyone. He is a very good passer too, yet sometimes he does tend to hoist up questionable fadeaways, etc. a little too often. However, when he does this, it seems as though the other 4 guys are merely standing on the side, watching. Is this Melo’s fault for not getting them involved throughout certain lapses in the game, or is it these other guys faults for not involving themselves in the offense, moving around, setting picks, cutting towards the rim. Aside from chandler, i don’t really see the other guys looking for the ball when melo goes into his little, “iso.” This is where the stat Melo dynamic gets interesting, because STAT never seems to be looking for the ball when Carmelo is on a one-on-one situation on the wing, like he’s giving up on attempting to score because he thinks Melo is just going to do his thing. I don’t really know where i’m getting at, but i think chemistry is going to be incredibly important. I think it's imperative that Woodson a) Figures out who plays well with who b) alluding to point a, figures out the right rotations and how long to play certain lineups for c) get everyone to buy in. The whole Felton PnR w/ Stat/Chandler and kick out to Melo thing seems real nice, but it's not that simple. Ball movement is going to be huge. I don't have a problem with Melo taking a ton of shots. But I think this is the season where we find out if Melo truly gets it. This is the season, i hope, where we find out if Melo learns how to totally balance/drive an offense, when to work to get the other 4 guys involved and moving/flowing, and when to take over... like Jordan...(Did i just compare Melo to Jordan?)
