The Knicks' three-game road trip ends tomorrow night in Chicago. Their four-games-in-five-nights stretch ends the following night at home against Denver. Carmelo Anthony's availability for those games, what with the laceration on his left middle finger, is still questionable. Mike Woodson went on a radio show and said he trusts Melo to make the call himself, while Tyson Chandler-- who reportedly encouraged Anthony to sit out the last game-- was a little more dogmatic:
"It's just important that he gets some scar tissue before he comes back," Chandler said. "I think he shouldn't come back until we get back to New York. But we'll see how his finger heals."
I'm with Dr. Chandler. If he feels ready and the finger-hole's closed up enough, then go for it. If not, take another night off and return at home against the Nuggets (a game I'm pretty certain Melo wouldn't skip if his finger was skinned to the bone). After last night, I trust that Melo won't try any hero shit in Chicago if he's still worried about the wound. Cool.
