Last night he was asked if he had seen what Lin had been doing

And said he had no idea who the reporter was talking about. He was asked if he would guard Lin if Lin started going off again and he said something like “Let’s not get crazy here”.

lmao

and Kobe was put on Lin down the stretch. and Lin blew by him.

although we haven’t played against good offense. nets jazz and wiz. and surprisingly the Lakers all have bad offenses

He's the same coach

we’re just playing better now and we also seem to have a legitimate PG. Anything else was just overreaction.

Consider the very sincere praise he heaped on Jefferies who happens to be one of the most ineffective offensive players ever. A coach that cares only about jacking up threes and ignores defense just doesn’t do that or show that type of heart felt appreciation.

Dantoni is faaaar from perfect but this NY thing we do where we tear down our players and coaches has dudes making wild declarations, talking crazy talk and all other types of assorted bull shit.

Yup

I know a lot of ppl are critisizing MDA on why he didn’t play him earlier but what they don’t understand is that Lin needed to understand MDA’s system before he could play. MDA wanted Lin to get a few practices under his belt before unleashing him

I don't get the people who claim he should have played him sooner

Almost everyone ever has completely passed Lin over, and MDA gets criticized for not playing him a few weeks earlier?

by Joamiq on Feb 10, 2012 11:17 PM EST up reply actions

I still don't get how this is a reasonable criticism.

That’s a guy who had a good year for you last year, your first round draft pick, and a veteran (who MDA hasn’t played much this year anyway). Who wouldn’t give those guys a shot before the undrafted guy you picked up for depth? He tried those guys, they failed, and then he gave Lin a shot. What more was he supposed to do?

by Joamiq on Feb 10, 2012 11:28 PM EST up reply actions

As one of the people who criticized MDA for not playing Lin sooner

I would like to point out that in limited minutes before he got his chance Lin had one of the highest PERs in the league. Something like 25. Meanwhile TD and Bibby were something around 2. I mean you could have wheeled a corpse out there and they would have done better. All we were asking(I wasn’t the only one) is that the guy be given a chance. After his triple double in D league he still didn’t enough of a chance.
Anway, it’s all good now. I’m happy, you’re happy, we are all happy.

Here’s Coach Nick’s take

That shows a distinct lack of character, and I think it’s why he gets hurt so many times. It’s because he doesn’t play as hard as he possibly can. Now I know it’s not scientific and nobody can ever prove me wrong or right, but when a guy doesn’t play as hard as he can, I think he’s a lot more prone to injury, and that goes to his character as well.

in order to make an unsuccessful bid for DeAndre Jordan.

by Joamiq on Feb 10, 2012 11:15 PM EST up reply actions

Lol even before Lin was doing well in NY Warrior fans were more than scratching their

heads about that one. Not only did we give up Lin to attempt to sign DeAndre Jordan but we also gave up Reggie Williams, instead of amnestying Biedrins large multi-year deal they amnestied the expiring contract of Charlie Bell.

BTW the Warriors make a lot of money, they sell out every game. The ownership doesn’t need to field a good team to make a ton of money. Clearly the ownership right now wants to field a competitive team yet they fail to make the clear and obvious moves they need to make. They constantly find good talent out of nowhere, yet they won’t even get rid of their big contracts to build around Curry, which they clearly should have done a few years ago.

Lin's two biggest cheerleaders?

1) D’Antoni – saved his job and proved his system just needs one heady PG.

2) Carmelo – will now be able to conserve so much energy not having to initiate the offense for everyone else.

I’m a Hornets fan and I’m crazy jealous that you guys picked him up for nothing. Here’s to hoping Lin can sustain his productivity and the Knicks challenging the Bulls/Heat in the playoffs.

Lin is amazing......but

There were a few times in the game when he does too much dribbling and not seeing the open man because he is trying to create his shot. That is the only complaint that I see…and it is a small complaint. Either way, Jeremy Lin has us playing outstanding ball. Some of my fellow posters have said all along, once we get a decent point guard, the offense will flow.

by D CLASSIC317 on Feb 10, 2012 11:22 PM EST reply actions

by tanman5 on Feb 10, 2012 11:26 PM EST up reply actions

Too much dribbling?

Keeping his dribble alive is a huge part of why he’s able to do what he does. He sees the open man incredibly well. The Lakers just did an excellent job tonight of getting into the passing lanes to make it difficult to hit the open man.

I'm a Wizards fan, not a Knicks fan

but a belated congratulations on getting Jeremy Lin who is the best thing that happened to the NBA this season! He showed us how to play some real basketball last Wednesday which seems like a long time ago, and you guys made my day after tonight’s game! I just had a thought

While we all shudder at the thought of a return to iso-ball, I could see Lin adding a lot of effectiveness to those types of plays as well. With his speed and uncanny spacing, he could potentially get a lot of good looks from Melo. Lin’s had to do almost all the work on his own thus far in getting his points, he could use some easy looks.

by Chuck Burly on Feb 10, 2012 11:42 PM EST reply actions

iso ball will come back

but it will be ok. It will occasionally slow down the pace of the game, allowing Melo to play his game for short stretches. Lin can control when/if it happens

This team can become awesome.

Is simply an end of the shot clock option. Why not at that point?
