Good evening and happy Valentine's Day, friends! Apologies for a quiet day of posting. I was driving all morning and ranking power all afternoon, but I'm free now and more than ready to watch me some Knicks. Tonight, our Knicks are in Toronto to face the Raptors, who've won just one out of their last five games (though they've been close in most of those losses). Of course, those same Raptors beat the Knicks early in the season, though that was without Amar'e Stoudemire and Iman Shumpert (and Jeremy Lin).
This time, the Knicks will be without Carmelo Anthony (and Josh Harrellson. Miss u, Jorts), but they'll be getting Amar'e back after his trip to Florida to mourn the tragic death of his brother. I'm so very happy to have Amar'e back with the Knicks and am wetting my trousers with excitement over the prospect of Lin and Stoudemire running the pick-and-roll. I'm very interested to see if the spacing troubles Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler have had are at all remedied in the first outing with Lin handling the ball. This'll be fun.
The Raptors, I should mention, are without Andrea Bargnani, which means 1. He can't torch the Knicks. 2. We don't get to hear Clyde say "Barn-yar-ni" quite as much. It's a win and a loss.

Novak, Jeffries, Chandler, Amar’e, and Melo is theoretically pretty decent in the front court, although you’d still like to have someone else decent behind the top 3. this is why i still don’t understand why Balkman doesn’t play more- while i guess his lack of offense probably leads to that, Jeffries doesn’t play offense either and he gets plenty of minutes.

but i think really people need to realize Novak is a legitimate player- he can actually shoot. now, i don’t think he can really rebound, but in D’Antoni’s system, a front court player who can only shoot is still a useful commodity. still need to see what kind of defense he plays with increased minutes though

Lin, Fields and Shumpert is plenty of people to take the majority of the backcourt minutes
especially once Melo is back and Fields is playing less SF. fill the rest of the PG minutes with Bibby, at least he can hit wide open 3s. Bill Walker is just absolutely awful. eventually (theoretically), Baron Davis will also play some minutes in the backcourt.
i don’t know why this team would possibly need another shooting guard.

Posted this on a Rangers forum with Knicks fans. It definitely fits here...
Holy fuck. For those that didn’t see:
Shumpert gets the shot with the Knicks tied (we shouldn’t be winning this game) with about 26 seconds to go. Hits the rim.
Knicks get the rebound, with under 24 (around 20 seconds but its semantics at this point) to go.
Jeremy Lin gets the ball, and holds it at the front court.
With 3 seconds to go he fires the three pointer.
Now this is a three pointer about 5 or so feet past the top of the arc, so for those who don’t watch basketball a VERY far 3 pointer.
Lin isn’t a great 3 point shooter.
It’s all net.
Knicks up 90-87 with .5 seconds to go.
