Has our defense actually been that great?

I was thinking about we've kept our last 8 opponents under 100 points and thought to myself... wow, that's really impressive. And then I remembered who we played. They're mostly HORRIBLE scoring teams. The best of those teams were LA, Minny and Utah. And LA is actually pretty bad scoring team this season. So I looked up the scoring numbers (average points per game for teams).

This is what I found:

http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/team/_/stat/team-comparison-per-game

Basically:

LA Lakers and Sacramento tied for #22
New Jersey at #24
Washington at #25
Toronto at #27
New Orleans at #29

(And Minnesota at #10 and Utah at #11)

So not to rain on our own parade, I'm just saying... let's not get to excited (and I'm been guilty myself as getting super hyped about the recent win streak). And I also think there's more to the game than numbers, I usually hate using stats to back up an argument, but this is a pretty clear. Dont' get me wrong, I think our defense has been really good, especially closing out games (like against Minny and Toronto, and even New Orleans)- I don't care what they're scoring numbers are, I've seen it with my own eyes, the defense has been good to close out games. It's great to see us winning games that we're supposed to, but let's keep this all in perspective.
