Let's win all the games this week now!
Can’t wait for Thursday, kinda nervous but I’m bout it!
In Donnie we trust.
cant wait for that game
hopefully all our guys will be back gonna be a real battle
I'm so psyched for Thursday
watching it in a bar in Miami with all heat fans. Last time it hurt, this time I think I can walk out smiling!
Yes, yes, yes!
Kinda makes the loss to NO grate a little bit more but I’d’ve take 1-1 for the weekend.
Losing that lead and then coming back from 12 down in the third makes me feel good about this group.
melo and baron back tomorrow?
this feels too good to be true havent felt like this about knicks in so many yrs
I can't tell you how long its been since MY team has been the one the gods are smiling upon

So right
Fitting Melo in will be fine. Don’t buy the ESPN hype.
Just another weapon to worry about
Amar’e ain’t right for a multitude of reasons, but you teams won’t be able to solely focus on stopping Lin. Melo and JR both getting in the groove and this thing could get dangerous

Most fun sports team i've ever watched
and i’ve seen two superbowl winners (gmen), and a national championship for my college (maryland). this is amazing
It was cool to see him already communicating with the team out there
And he made the extra pass a few times and didn’t force the issue too much. It was really awesome to see him celebrating with Lin after that one 3 going into the timeout. Already fits in
KNICKS NOW

i know amar'e isn't playing his best ball
but for him to be out there, and not forcing up shots, or complaining about touches can do a lot to the temperament of the entire team.

So just to get some perspective
Amare is playing as bad as I’ve ever seen him, Carmelo’s on the bench, our backup PG didn’t play…and we handled the defending NBA Champs, who are playing great basketball this season. Sound about right?
This team will be so, so amazing when Melo comes back. All along a lot of people were saying that what this team needed was a PG, and they were right.

Steve Fricking Novak!!!!
Stunning performance all round. So so happy right now.
I’m off to celebrate with some bacon!
The 3 bench players who played today
were +21, +17, and +17
fast start
good finish. i’ll take it.
good night world
One negative thing though
Don’t want to rain on the parade, but Lin sat for all of 2:50 tonight. We looked terrible without him, but we desperately need a backup PG if we want to keep winning. Baron needs to get ready ASAP.

Shump also started at SF and didn't get much playing time at PG
He’s not great at it, but he’s better at running the offense than he showed in limited time tonight. And Bibby didn’t play at all either
KNICKS NOW

yea only a matter of time
but walker would have gotten those minutes, and shump could have came in off the bench, where he does his best work. and obviously, carmelo anthony, or whatever his name is, wasn’t playing.

lots of fight on rebounds and lights-out three-point shooting. Really a find, perfect for this team, and JR Smith fits in really well.

by $100M Contract on Feb 19, 2012 3:40 PM EST up reply actions
Nah
Amare needs to add a lot more to his game than a jumper to be honest. He’s been terrible defensively and not good offensively. He’s a liability on the court right now.
New York Knicks = Sleeping Giants
Wanna check out an awesome blog? http://cokupit.com
I was talking about his offense specifically
But yes his defense is a liability
Tyson Chandler: Kung-Fu Knickerbocker
He'll be fine
Its obvious he is still suffering from the back operation. There is just no lift. I mean last year he was pretty explosive and now he looks as though he has lost a couple of inches on his vertical. Thus all the blocks. He’ll get it back and in this offense, we can just stay at the elbow and pop his midrange.
This is classic:
I hate the Nix, but please let’s not be like Nix delusional fans.
As if there is a single NetsDaily poster who isn’t delusional. Really funny stuff.

I just read that thread, and wow that is the bitterest forum I've ever seen.
Not to mention they basically had a gamethread for another team just to complain about said team.
Really guys? Damn the Knicks are really in their heads. It would be satisfyingly hilarious if it wasn’t so satisfyingly depressing.
I dream of Eddy Curry feeding me fish sticks.
Look at it Dave. Look at it.
That is their entire site
They generate so many comments, and it’s all about how much they hate the Knicks.
It's weird how I don't really mind if the Nets have success. Good for them.
But the amount of vitriol generated on that site for the Knicks turns the corner from “vaguely unsettling” to “hilariously bitter”. Not really sure what other reaction I’m supposed to have with it.
I dream of Eddy Curry feeding me fish sticks.
Look at it Dave. Look at it.
I'm with you, man
I never really had any dislike for the Nets. I was happy for them when they were succeeding with Kidd. But man, the Nets Daily users are so nuts you can’t help but think negative thoughts about them. I honestly had no idea until I went on that site how much Nets fans hate the Knicks.
by Joamiq on Feb 19, 2012 4:13 PM EST up reply actions 2 recs
The thing is a lot of my friends are casual fans who started their fandom with the Nets during the Kidd years.
With a couple more hardcore fans mixed in. Nobody hates the Knicks. They gave me shit when the Knicks sucked, but they’re all honestly hyped about the Knicks winning right now.
Of course we’re all also asian so that’s probably the bulk of it haha.
I dream of Eddy Curry feeding me fish sticks.
Look at it Dave. Look at it.
See, that's how it should be
I mean, not hating, not everyone being Asian, haha. Nets and Knicks fans don’t really have any reason to hate each other’s teams. And yet over at Nets Daily you can’t read more than a few comments without seeing people talk about how much they hate the Knicks.
I really don't get why they hate the Knicks
The Knicks and Nets have never really been contenders at the same time. It’s not like we was an NBA championship at their expense, or vice versa.

"He who gets the best players usually wins" - Bobby Bowden
We get more attention to them. That's literally it.
I dream of Eddy Curry feeding me fish sticks.
Look at it Dave. Look at it.
Attention?
Who cares about attention? When it comes to the Knicks, what I care about is our team performing well.
__________________________________________________
"He who gets the best players usually wins" - Bobby Bowden
A lot of them care. A lot.
“We have more playoff wins over the last 10 years than them. Give us some love, ESPN” It’s just weird that they backhand-compliment themselves to get one over on the Knicks.
I dream of Eddy Curry feeding me fish sticks.
Look at it Dave. Look at it.
That's a rather irrational reason for more coverage
No one cares (outside of Nets fans) about a team that won a lot of playoff games several years ago but sucks today. It’s mind numbing to think that this isn’t immediately obvious.
__________________________________________________
"He who gets the best players usually wins" - Bobby Bowden
eh. it's a zero-sum game to want any attention from the media.
Apparently we get a shitload of coverage, but how many of us here complain that it’s all negative(even though it is)? The national and local media loves to shit on the team. I don’t think NJ fans really want that.
Careful what you wish for.
I dream of Eddy Curry feeding me fish sticks.
Look at it Dave. Look at it.
I hate getting a lot of coverage
It’s kind of annoying seeing Lin on ESPN every 5 minutes because I wish the attention was off him and we could just respect and love how he plays ball.
Likewise, with all the national coverage, you get even more people with opinions. I went to a party Friday night and I can’t even put a number on how many people I heard (stupidly) talking about the Knicks and Jeremy Lin. And it just makes it that much harder to bite your tongue, though I’m happy to say I did.

This just in at ESPN, we've got some breaking news, The Nets won a playoff game in 2001
Do the Shumpty Shump, come on and do the Shumpty Shump
Yup.
We had rivalries with the Bulls (well, they probably thought it was less of a rivalry), then Pacers, then Heat, because we repeatedly met these teams in the playoffs, and there was all kinds of bad blood between the teams. That’s never been the case for the Knicks and the Nets. I do not at all mind when the Nets are successful. But to be honest, just because of Nets Daily, I do snicker these days when the Nets are hapless.
Agreed
My friend is a big Nets fan (and a knowledgeable NBA fan at that) and during preseason he and I were discussing the Knicks and Nets and what not. After Lopez broke his foot I texted him saying good luck, I’m rooting for you guys because it looks like it might get rough.
He wrote back. “Thanks. I still hate the Knicks.” Typical Nets fan….

TBH
I’m not sure most of the fans over there are older than 16. The older ones have long given up on the team — especially with the ridiculous buyout of NJ. I’m on a last warning over there for saying crap and damn too much.
BUT HEY DEWAIGHT HOWAD IS GONNA BE A BROOKLYN NET
Is Novak going to get minutes when melo and baron are in the rotation?
I can’t see the coaching staff sitting shump because his D is still prison-like
"Practice does not make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect."
guys are playing lots of minutes right now
there’s plenty of minutes all around
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
Um Novak is not a pg
so I don’t see him getting minutes while Lin is on the bench…..
"Practice does not make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect."
I think it'll be a "who has the hot hand?" sort of deal
Like tonight, Shump and Fields played poor second halves, but JR and Novak were creating offense and playing good D. You have to expect Melo and Lin will be out there to close the game, but some nights JR and Fields might have it going, other nights it might be Novak and Stoudemire, etc.
KNICKS NOW
http://nyknicksnow.blogspot.com/ - check it out!
I think you see him and Walker split minutes
That is until D’antoni figures out that Walker is terrible at pretty much everything. And that could take a while.
It will be nice when Baron plays
so that Lin doesn’t need to play 45+ minutes in a non-overtime game
Nah, I meant before he gets injured.
He could log 0 minutes in those two weeks and still get injured.
Why are we assuming Baron is going to be injury prone?
He’s been looking great and in shape at practice according to reports. He’ll be ready to go.

But I have a sneaky suspicion it was all adrenaline. But if he continues to play like he did today, I’ll eat crow
Tyson Chandler: Kung-Fu Knickerbocker
Why do you say that?
It wasn’t like he was unconscious from the field out there. He had a good, solid JR Smith type game. He hit some difficult shots but also missed some easy looks. He also hasn’t practiced with the team so he was kind of lost out there.

but he is a career 12ppg player, and has been averaging 15ppg over the past three or four seasons, so I don’t think its wrong to expect that out of him

JR Smith didn't play at an unsustainable rate today
He was 6–16 from the field today, and 3–9 from downtown. Expecting that level of performance does not seem unreasonable to me.

People keep over looking the fact that fields is an above average defender. And he tends to draw TOUGH matchups

True
But fields is a more solid player, less volatile, and in the current “Lin” system is THRIVING. Besides smith matches the makeup of the 2nd unit better.

eventually you have to rest guys like carmelo and lin, and to have a guy like landry being your 6th man, its a little too static.
i want jr off the bench, for the chance that he could really take it to a team and have the freedom to do so.
/// aighttho.com \/// twitter.com/aighttho \
Definitely
He’s kind of a secondary playmaker out there too. Like today’s game for example, Lin got trapped and got stuck a few times, so he passed it to J.R. who kinda did his thing and created for himself and even got other guys some looks

I loved JR Smith tonight
I mean he made a lot early then cooled off, but didnt stop the ball really and made some sweet passes
Defensively he was ON his man. We’re looking stacked
JR
Gotta give him a whole lot of credit. He hasn’t had one practice with the knicks and played great defense, while giving them offensive spark to. This team has all the ingredients to win a championship, and if they pull it together, watch out

Fields – SG

Baron, Shump, Novak or Smith, and Jeffries. I rather it be deeper, but with MDA i doubt it.
I’d imagine the other of Novak/Smith and Jorts will get the next set of minutes, with the rest getting garbage time.

Jared should drive and shoot from the corner at least a few times a game, if only to keep the defense honest.

Linsanity is the ultimate wild card

But the necessities created by the sequence of events that started with the Melo trade unmistakably means Melodrama gave birth to Linsanity.

JR's defense was good!
And that was biggest question about him. Plus, he was a willing and accurate passer. Great stuff.
Stat, poor Stat — looked lost at times, moving in slow motion, didn’t hit a SINGLE jumper (except the one that didn’t count). Gotta hope he wakes up at some point…. o/w must conclude he’s a fifth wheel on this new team.
I rather have JR replace Lin off the bench
Lin might be young but he can’t continue 40+ minutes a game
but who runs the offense then?
We don’t need Baron as desperately as we used to, but we still need him back.
I dream of Eddy Curry feeding me fish sticks.
Look at it Dave. Look at it.
JR is a good PG. He's unselfish and willing to pass
unless melo learned how to pass
being able to pass and being able to run an offense is not the same thing, though
David Lee was a great passer too. Jamal Crawford threw an entry pass in like no other. I want neither to ever initiate shit if they’re on my team because they’re not PGs.
I dream of Eddy Curry feeding me fish sticks.
Look at it Dave. Look at it.
Dantoni would look at the bench, catch Toney's hopeful eyes
and then turn around and leave Lin lying prone on the Knicks logo at half court. We need another PG, but I don’t know if JR is the answer. Hopefully Baron makes this all moot this week.
I dream of Eddy Curry feeding me fish sticks.
Look at it Dave. Look at it.
maybe we should look at our D-league
we could find another Lin
You want to win the lottery twice?
Only reason why Lin was in D-league in the first place was the stereotype agains Asian ppl not being able to ball. Also, the coach was under pressure to perform. Also, he’s from Harvard. Also, he came from a trade as grass fodder.
Putting him into D-league is like putting a shark in a koi pond. KIndah obvious you’ve got a giant shark in your pond.
Then again, Terrence Williams went to the D-League.
Fucked around, got a triple double.
I dream of Eddy Curry feeding me fish sticks.
Look at it Dave. Look at it.
"Find another Lin?"
No. The whole Linsanity thing exists because it is a once in a generation type of story. There won’t be another Lin. Enjoy the one that we have.
J.R. is a very good player, but Baron is a far superior solution to be our backup PG. We know that he can run D’Antoni’s offense. J.R. will probably not do well in that role because he has little experience as a point guard, and because he’s not the type of player who will quickly learn the role in time for the playoffs.

Esp on back-to-backs, like tomorrow. The offense DISAPPEARED without Lin on the floor. Scary. MUST get a backup PG ASAP. That’s the biggest remaining hole right now.
I think JR could be a good PG
he has skills, quickness, and willing to pass
it’s a good sub until baron gets back
Interesting thought
Not what he’s done before… but you’re right, he seems to have the skills. Beats the hell out of Shump as PG.
JR played as a semi-PG in denver. He passed and shoot when appropriate
IS he another lin or nash? NO
is he better than bibby? HELL YES
