Around SBN: Yankees Deny Rumors That Team Is For Sale

A Thread For All-Star Saturday Night

Photo

Evening, hares! Hope y'all have had pleasant Saturdays and haven't eaten any bugs or children by accident. Tonight is the second and (in my opinion) best day of All-Star weekend. The Knicks, unfortunately, aren't as involved in today's activities as they were supposed to be, but they will make an appearance. There isn't really a set schedule for tonight, but here's the order (and brief description, slightly updated by me) of events, beginning at 8 PM:

Shooting Stars - Teams of NBA, WNBA and retired players in a shooting contest.
Skills Challenge - Guards navigate an 'obstacle course', Stephen Curry won in 2011.
Three-Point Contest - James Jones defends title against Mario Chalmers, Kevin Love, Joe Johnson, Anthony Morrow and Joe Johnson.
Slam Dunk Contest - Chase Budinger, Iman Shumpert Jeremy Evans, Derrick Williams and Paul George participate.

Landry Fields, Allan Houston, and Cappie Pondexter will be doing the Shooting Stars thing, so that's cool. Iman Shumpert, of course, will sit out the Dunk Contest. 'Tis a shame, but Jeremy Evans, his replacement, is pretty awesome. I'm looking forward to that.

That's all! Comment along here if you're watching.

I’m embarrassed for the NBA that they didn’t see fit to invite Steve Novak for the three point shooting contest. I know they’ll lose many in the NY area because of it.

Proud owner of over 20,000 comments. (most of them in the wrong place) Oh yeah, and Buster Posey

I agree 100%

Especially since they saw fit to put TWO guys from the Heat on the roster. Mario Chalmers? Really?

Shumpert definitely would have won w/ the described dunk regardless of how good it actually ended up being. That’s how these things always work. Oh well, should be a good contest.

Also, as it is in hockey, I agree w/ Seth that tonight is always the best night. All-Star games are skills competitions with a game in the way. I prefer my skills competitions unadulterated.

Also, you all should be rooting for Anthony Morrow to win the 3 point contest

He’ll be wearing the late Drazen “Basketball Mozart” Petrovic’s jersey. Pretty good stuff.

The Dunk contest should be a competition between the best basketball players in the game.

Not scrubs vs. scrubs vs. Ralph Malph.

So I guess next year they’ll select Richie Cunningham.

by bababooey2 on Feb 25, 2012 8:37 PM EST up reply actions

I hope next year the dunk contest doesn't exist.

It is unsure how many minutes Houston will get but it is know that he will play in the last 1:30 of each quarter. He will not start.
