It sounds like Baron Davis is okay.

Mar. 14, 2012; New York, NY, USA; New York Knicks point guard Baron Davis (85) looks to dribble around Portland Trail Blazers point guard Raymond Felton (5) during the second half at Madison Square Garden. Knicks won 121-79. Mandatory Credit: Debby Wong-US PRESSWIRE

The hamstring injury Baron Davis suffered on Friday was significant enough that Davis didn't travel with the team to Indiana and missed last night's re-match with the Pacers. Because he's Baron Davis, there was some worry that a "tweaked ham" might become a long-term issue. According to Mike Woodson, our concerns are unwarranted. Via Peter Botte of the Daily News:

Baron Davis remained in New York after tweaking his right hamstring Friday night and remains day-to-day, but his injury is "not as severe as we thought," according to Knicks coach Mike Woodson.

"We’re just not taking any chances right now," Woodson said before the Knicks’ 102-88 win over the Pacers Saturday.

That's nice. The Knicks aren't terribly hamstrung without Davis-- Mike Bibby had some fine moments (seriously!) last night, Iman Shumpert can manage spot minutes as the point guard, and Toney Douglas should be back with the team this week after the birth of his son. I think we'd all prefer to see Baron handling the ball in that second unit, though. It is the Legion of Boom, after all, not the Legion of...Bibby. No word yet on whether Davis will be ready for Tuesday's game against the Raptors, but that does sound like a decent possibility. Cool.
