I was lucky enough to attend that Jeremy's first start as a Knick in that Utah game back in February with my brother and his friends. As we watched the scrappy Knicks dispatch the Jazz with, at times, what could best be described as D-League quality lineups (Chandler in foul trouble, Melo out in the first few minutes with a groin injury, STAT out because of bereavement), we left the game in a tizzy and wondering what the hell had we just witnessed.
It was at this point that one of my friends, who had just started a custom suit clothier company, mentioned that he had contacted Lin's agent a few weeks prior and offered the then-homeless and not-yet-magic-Landry-couch-transformed Lin a free custom suit in an endorsement deal. Lin's agent agreed to keep in touch and said that the earliest that Lin had free time to meet up was during the All Star break.
Well, we all know that Lin definitely did not have free time available during the All Star break. Hell, my brother and I even joked that with all these Nike and Volvo endorsements rolling in, it looked like our friend couldn't even leave a message with Lin's agent's secretary anymore.
It turns out that Lin is a man of his word. After being named as one of "Time's 100 Most Influential People in the World", Lin needed to get suited up for the corresponding Time 100 Gala. So he contacted my friend to get one, and well, check it out:
Going from sleeping on his brother's couch to hanging out with Rihanna and the Secretary of State in a few months? Not too shabby.
