Questions from a Mavs fan

Hey Knicks fans. I'm a Mavs fan (I come in peace), and I wanted to ask you guys a few questions about the off season and gauge your feelings about certain players.

1. Jeremy Lin. How confident are you that you will retain him? He's been brought up as an alternative to Deron Williams should that not happen for the Mavericks. I remember hearing that the Knicks GM said he expected Lin back, but Lin's agent saying that its not for sure. I'd expect him to be back in NY, though I wouldn't be shocked to see a smaller market team throw a ton of money at him to get attention. I'd love to see him in Dallas, however (and for the record, we tried to sign him after his summer league stint, and he opted to go closer to home with the Warriors).

2. Sources say Lamar Odom would prefer to be in NY if not LA. He was pretty damn good in LA, and we didn't expect a damaged good. Perhaps he would play better in a big city like New York, where its not unusual to be followed everywhere by cameras (From what I've seen on TV, everyone in LA is followed by a camera). He still believes he can make the national team, so clearly he doesn't think he's washed up. So, do you guys want Odom? I mean, give us a trade exception and a second rounder and you can take him. Otherwise, chances are he'll be cut by us or another team for cap space, and then he'll be a free agent. If he becomes and FA, would you sign him, and for how much?

3. Amar'e Stoudemire was a great player when I saw him with Pheonix. What the heck did you guys do to him? I heard you guys have beed pretty disappointed with him (you don't know disappointed until you've had an Odom experience, which means until next year). I've also heard we could sign Steve Nash. We need a Center (Amar'e can play center if Dirk can play Center), since Haywood is probably gone. How much is he still worth to the Knicks? Could we package something like Vince Carter, Rodrigue Bueabois / Dominique Jones, and Lamar Odom, along with our first rounder, and take him? I think he'd start playing well again with Steve Nash.

4. I can name exactly 5 players on the Knicks roster: Lin, Amar'e, Chandler, Melo, and Novak. (edit: to be clear, i probably should have remembered Shumpert. I've obviously heard of guys like Baron Davis I just didn't connect them with the Knicks) None of those guys are shooting guards. Therefore, I have to infer that Shooting Guard is a big need for the Knicks. We happen to have a a pretty good SG we want to re-sign. His name is Jason Terry. The Jet is a pretty cool guy, but he's kinda crazy and a bit cocky at times. As such the consensus among Mavs fans is he will probably over-value himself and decline what the Mavs offer him. We would love him back, but if we can pick up someone like Courtney Lee for less, why wouldn't we? Needing a SG, the Knicks seem like a logical place for JET to sign. How much would you guys pay for a guy like him?

Yeah, that's all the questions. Thanks!

thanks for all the responses. If nothing else this makes me feel a lot better about our chances of re-signing Terry, although granted, us fans aren't exactly the GMs.
