A little something to mess with the mind while waiting for game 2, the draft, and this summer’s free agency.
Kind of a 2010 Summer of Love (or Loath) part 2. After the 2013/14 season a large number of players either will become Unrestricted Free Agents or have Player Options to become UFA.
Miami, NY, Brokyn Nyets (previously the Swamp), Chicago all tried to build the super team. Miami did build it but has no jewelry yet.
In 2014, does LeBron, Melo, DWade, and Bosh, all with fistfuls of cash, player options and heading towards the latter part of their prime, try to build another super team with even bigger group discounts on their contracts? Does Kobe, Dirk, or Pierce, decide to hang em up or stay around as hired guns?
If another super team is attempted, what team will try to build it? With the current CBA, can such a team be successfully built and win?
Here is a sampling list of players of various note who will be UFA or have player opt-outs in the summer of 2014 (browsing by team).
