Lin's Departure is....Signficant

There was a time when watching the Knicks was the most important thing I did in my life. Patrick Ewing, John Starks, Allan Houston, Spreewell, Ward, Oakley, Mason, Grandmama LJ.

These names bring back so many memories and nostalgic, exuberant feelings. Everyone in this forum knows its not the easiest rooting for this team. Along with glorious gifts from the rim on Allan Houston floaters we've had Charles Smith missing four layups, and Ewing getting denied by the Pacers loving iron. All while never making it to the promised land. In other words....its been rough.

Today is one of the all time lows. Since those afore mentioned glory days the Knicks have been mired in a decade of frustration. Still as fans we diligently watched, hoping things would get better.

We bared with it as our team was unloaded to get pretty top heavy. We rooted for Carmelo, we had already embraced Stat. But we had no one to REALLY call our own. Then as if Karma realized all we had suffered we were given the phenomenon known as Linsanity. Suddenly, we had a talented, humble, exciting player who did nothing less than trot out the greatest starting debut of any player in NBA history. Then proceeded to back that up with the most exciting stretch of basketball I had ever seen.

Today, I have to come to grips with the fact that for any number of reasons that magic wont continue. We all have different people we are unhappy with, people we may blame. Putting that aside for the moment I think we can all commiserate on one fact: this sucks.

Thanks to all of you on P&T, you've made this miserable turn of events a little more manageable. Good luck to JLIN, I still think you have tremendous potential. And Go NY GO NY GO, here's to hoping for brighter days (again)
