Lin exiting a sinking ship

I think we have to at least consider the possibility that Jeremy Lin just did not want to remain a New York Knick. His priorities are probably some combination of the following:

  • Winning Championships
  • Amassing numbers
  • Getting Paid.

(NOT necessarily in that order.)

However, if Lin believed that New York wasn't the best place for him to achieve some combination of those goals... I dunno. He's got his own legacy to worry about, not the New York Knicks'. Maybe he wanted to play somewhere where he wouldn't be the 4th most important player on the floor. Maybe he didn't want to play somewhere where, as the Point Guard, he would face pressure to defer to the Small Forward. Maybe he just didn't think that the core of Melo, Amar'e and Chandler could ever be made to work; maybe he didn't think that he could be the guy to make it work.

I'm just sayin'. He didn't have to sign that offer sheet; he chose to. So farewell, Jeremy. I'm sorry it had to end like this; I would have enjoyed rooting for you. But now I'm going to point out to whoever will listen that staying here was clearly not your first priority.
