Here's some totally unsurprising news! The ful NBA schedule won't be released until Thursday, but the league's allowed a few choice tidbits to leak. One such tidbit (I don't know why I keep saying that word. It reminds me of cat food.) was just reported by Al Iannazzone:
The Nets' first regular-season opponent in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn will be the cross-town rival Knicks, according to league sources. Both teams open the 2012-13 campaign with that Nov. 1 matchup, which also will be televised nationally on TNT , the sources said.
It will be the first of four meetings between the Knicks and Nets.
The Knicks will hold their home opener the next night at The Garden against LeBron James and the NBA champion Miami Heat , according to a report. The Heat eliminated the Knicks in five games in the first round of the playoffs last season.
I'd heard the thing about the Heat, but the Brooklyn bit is new. So, '12-'13 will kick off with a back-to-back in Brooklyn then at home against the reigning champs. Basically, one way or the other, we're all guaranteed to be flipping a collective shit November 3rd. Again, we'll know about the other 80 games tomorrow night.
