Berman: It's up to Rasheed Wallace.

Marc Berman reports that the Knicks really are interested in Rasheed Wallace-- he wasn't just chillin' with his bros over the weekend-- and that they sound willing to extend Sheed (a veteran's minimum offer) if he's interested. Whether or not he's interested remains the important question:

According to Wallace’s agent, Bill Strickland, six teams have tried to get Wallace out of retirement over the past two years — including the Knicks last season — and all have failed.

"He will make this decision on his own,’’ Strickland told The Post. "Rasheed’s his own man. This time I’ll be more a facilitator than an advisor. As he’s told me, he’s a grown man and he’s got this."

I can definitely hear Sheed saying-- word for word-- "I'm a grown man and I've got this" to his agent.

I don't know about this one. I like that the Knicks are looking for a big man who can defend and hit an open shot, but Sheed didn't have much left in his stint with the Celtics, and that was two years ago. I'm not going to get bent out of shape about New York's fifteenth man, and it would be fun to have Sheed around just to scream at refs and sneer at reporters, but there are quite a few others I'd prefer.

Whether or not Wallace opts to sign, it's clear as ever that Mike Woodson really does prefer veterans (and Sheed would only be the fourth oldest Knick!). The grayer, the better.
