Aw, Jeez, I'd never want to get political around these parts. I mean, Democrat, Republican, Socialist, Communist, Fascist, Green, Libertarian, Tea Party, Occupy, we're all Knick fans, right? Even that guy who was secretly hoping that the Knicks changed their logo to a swastika. You know who you are.

But God Damn, Barack. What's with the disrespect for Jeremy Lin? I mean, yeah, whatever, you're a cool guy that plays basketball and you made a basketball analogy for the presidential election. Did it have to be that one?

Jeremy Lin - Lightweight. Jeremy Lin - Flash in the pan. Jeremy Lin - What you saw was not real. Jeremy Lin - fools gold.

I mean, I get it. The one time Lin faced the Heat, they bottled him up but good. But it seems like a large segment of the basketball fan public, including the President, were almost relieved that the Lin mystique was punctured that night.

Yeah, I know the guy's no longer a Knick. I know that it was kind of ridiculous that he had TWO Sports Illustrated covers IN A ROW. I know that he's most likely not going to go down in history as the Greatest Of All Time. But I also know the guy has real basketball talent, creativity, and balls. I would feel better about the Knicks letting him go if he ended up sucking and riding the bench. I don't really think he will though.

However, it's clear that the "fool's gold" assessment is quite common.

Interesting that Obama just got finished hanging out and playing ball with Melo, who is a huge supporter of Obama's. I had kind of let go of the "Melo forced Lin out" mindset, but this makes me wonder. Actually it makes me wonder if Lin is a Republican. He's a religious guy - his family could certainly go that way. And I do think that it's tough for Republican basketball players because I imagine they are serious minorities in NBA locker rooms. Perhaps they sometimes are not respected because people just don't like their political beliefs.

Though Greg Anthony got more respect as a player than he deserved. Chris Dudley? About right.

Hmmmmmm. Anyway, if you comment, lets see if we can keep it apolitical. If it gets too ugly, I'll just delete the post.
